Témoin (''Witness'', formerly known as Mlle and Moi et Cie) is a Canadian French-language discretionary specialty channel owned by Groupe TVA. The network primarily broadcasts crime dramas and true crime programs. History The channel launched on May 2, 2011 as Mlle, a channel devoted to lifestyle and entertainment programming targeting women. On February 1, 2013, the network was rebranded as Moi & Cie (later stylized as Moi et Cie), an extension of Groupe TVA's magazine of the same name. On April 9, 2024, after having slowly pivoted to airing such programming, Moi et Cie was rebranded as Témoin—which would be focused on crime-related programming, including true crime documentaries, and crime-related series (such as police procedurals) and films. Groupe TVA Inc. is a Canadian communications company with operations in broadcasting, publishing and production. It was founded as Télé-Métropole Corporation in 1960, and owned CFTM-TV, Montreal's first privately-owned francophone station. It changed its legal name to Groupe TVA inc. on February 17, 1998. Quebecor Media holds voting control of the company through near-complete control of Groupe TVA's Class A shares; only the non-voting Class B shares are currently publicly traded. Groupe TVA owns and operates the TVA network, the largest private French language television network in Canada and the most watched television network in Quebec. It also operates seven specialty channels, available via subscription television across Canada, and a motion picture division. A discretionary service is a Canadian specialty channel which, as defined by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, may be carried optionally by all subscription television providers. It replaces the previous category A, category B, category C (instead split into the categories of "mainstream sports" and "national news"), and premium classifications. Discretionary services may air programming from any of the CRTC's defined categories, although no more than 10% of programming per month may be devoted to live professional sports. 480i is the video mode used for standard-definition digital video in the Caribbean, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Myanmar, Western Sahara, and most of the Americas (with the exception of Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay). The other common standard definition digital standard, used in the rest of the world, is 576i. The courtesy title " Madame" is accorded women where their marital status is unknown.
