State Anthem Of Turkmenistan
The State Anthem of Turkmenistan was adopted as the national anthem of Turkmenistan in 1996, replacing the Anthem of the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic. After the death of Saparmurat Nyýazow in 2006, the lyrics were modified in 2008 by removing his title of "Türkmenbaşy" in the refrain.''Turkmenistan to the Heights of the Golden Age'', Ashgabat, 2005. The music was composed by Weli Muhadow, who also composed the music for the Soviet-era anthem. The lyrics were originally written by the first president of Turkmenistan, Saparmurat Nyýazow (better known as Türkmenbaşy), who died on 21 December 2006. Less than two years after his death, references to him in the chorus were replaced with "the people", and both the third and final verse and the chorus at the start of the piece were removed. Gurbanguly Mälikgulyýewiç Berdimuhamedow (born 29 June 1957) is a Turkmen politician and former dentist who is currently the chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan. He previously served as the second president of Turkmenistan from 2006 to 2022, when he entered into a power-sharing arrangement with his son, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, Serdar, the current president. A former dentist, Berdimuhamedow served in the government of the president, Saparmurat Niyazov, as the Ministry of Health (Turkmenistan), minister of health in 1997 and as the third Vice President of Turkmenistan, vice president in 2001. People's Council Of Turkmenistan
The People's Council of Turkmenistan (, ɑlq mɑθlɑxɑt̪ɯ "People's Council") is Turkmenistan's independent "representative body" exerting supreme constitutional authority. It includes in its membership, but is not considered part of, the legislature. Among other things, it is empowered to amend the constitution. Its chairperson is appointed by the president and is designated the "National Leader". State media referred to the People's Council as the "supreme representative organ of people's power", a title similar to the "supreme organ of state power" of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. Serdar Gurbangulyýewiç Berdimuhamedow (born 22 September 1981) is a Turkmenistani politician who is currently serving as the third and current president of Turkmenistan since 2022.
