Trond Sverre Hansen
Trond Sverre Hansen (born 27 January 1964 in Narvik, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (drums). He is the son of jazz trombonist, Viggo Hansen and is considered one of the most prominent Norwegian drummers in the bebop genre. Career Hansen debuted at the age of 14 with the legendary north-Norwegian guitarist Thorgeir Stubø, and participated in his quartet (1981–82). In the early 1980s he also played within "Samasjyen" in Harstad, and was, in other words a very young contributor to Narviks vital jazz scene at this time. He appeared in Erling Wicklund's show ''Ung norsk jazz'' at NRK in the early 1990s, and played with regional musician group "Jazz i Nord" together with the pianist Jørn Øien, bassist Konrad Kaspersen and trombonist Øystein B. Narvik
( se, Áhkanjárga) is the third-largest municipality in Nordland county, Norway, by population. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Narvik. Kongsberg Jazzfestival
Kongsberg Jazz Festival or Kongsberg Jazzfestival is an international jazz festival that has been held annually in Kongsberg, Norway, since 1964. Alf Kjellman
Alf Erling Kjellman (17 January 1938 in Tromsø - 14 September 2010) was a Norwegian jazz musician (tenor, baritone and alto saxophones), organizer and composer. Biography Kjellman led his own revue orchestra in Tromsø (1955 and 56), was member of the «Swinging Quartet» (1956–57), Sverre Lund Quartet (1958–59), performed saxophone and wrote arrangements for the local jazz club orchestra (1958–59). In 1959 he moved to Oslo and joined the Oslo jazz scene, first with Kjell Karlsen (1959), then with Ditlef Eckhoff (at the first Moldejazz in 1961). Kjellman also contributed to film music on '' Line (film)'' (1961) including with Atle Hammer, Frode Thingnæs, Mikkel Flagstad, Eilif Holm, Einar Iversen, Erik Amundsen and Egil Johansen. Odin Records is a Norwegian jazz record company and label founded in 1981 by the Norwegian Jazz Federation, when there were not many independent record labels in Norway. Only major international record companies were to be found in Oslo, so Odin soon became the most important national label for contemporary Norwegian jazz. Sverre Kjelsberg
Sverre Kjelsberg (18 October 1946 – 18 June 2016) was a Norwegian singer, guitarist, bassist, composer, and lyricist. He was a member of the band The Pussycats from 1964. He and Mattis Hætta represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 with the entry '' Sámiid Ædnan'', which was composed by Kjelsberg and Ragnar Olsen. On 18 June 2016, Kjelsberg was found dead in his home, aged 69. He had been ill with cancer previously, but was declared cancer-free in 2015. No cause of death has been determined. Stubøprisen
Stubøprisen (an Award initiated in 1989, in memory of the late guitar virtuoso and Northern Norway Enthusiast Thorgeir Stubø) is the highest honor given to a Northern Norwegian jazz musician. The award is given every second year to a person who makes or has made a special contribution to the Northern Norwegian Jazz Scene by the Thorgeir Stubø Memorial Fund (established 1987). The idea behind Thorgeir Stubø Memorial Fund is to honor a great jazz musician and simultaneously stimulate Northern Norwegian culture. Knut Johan Bratland Kristiansen (born 14 April 1946) is a Norwegian composer and jazz musician (piano), known from Bergen jazz life primarily for his many interpretations of the music of Thelonious Monk as orchestra leader his own bands with various number of musicians involved.
