Trombone Shorty
Troy Andrews (born January 2, 1986), also known by the stage name Trombone Shorty, is a musician, most notably a trombone player, from New Orleans, Louisiana. His music fuses rock, pop, jazz, funk, and hip hop. Biography Andrews was one of seven children of James Andrews Jr. and Lois Andrews. He was born in and grew up in the Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans, where he was exposed to jazz, R&B and music-related traditions such as second line parades. Andrews is the younger brother of trumpeter and bandleader James Andrews III and the grandson of singer and songwriter Jessie Hill. His great-uncle Walter "Papoose" Nelson played with Fats Domino. Satchmo SummerFest
Satchmo SummerFest (also known as Satchmofest) is an annual music festival held in New Orleans, Louisiana, in celebration of the jazz trumpeter Louis Armstrong. It is held in early August in order to coincide with August 4, Armstrong's birthday. It was founded in 2001, in conjunction with Armstrong's centennial celebration. The festival is traditionally held on the grounds of the old New Orleans Mint, now part of the Louisiana State Museum. It has multiple stages, including stages for traditional and contemporary jazz, big-band jazz, and a children's stage for up-and-coming jazz musicians. Jefferson Public Radio (JPR) is a regional public radio broadcasting network serving over a million potential listeners in Southern Oregon and the Shasta Cascade region of northern California. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (commonly called Jazz Fest or Jazzfest) is an annual celebration of local music and culture held at the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans, New Orleans, Louisiana. Jazz Fest attracts thousands of visitors to New Orleans each year. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation Inc., as it is officially named, was established in 1970 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (NPO). Ellas Otha Bates (December 30, 1928 – June 2, 2008), known professionally as Bo Diddley, was an American guitarist and singer who played a key role in the transition from the blues to rock and roll.
