Trefor Davies
Treffor Elliott Davies (13 March 1938 – 21 December 2013) was an English cricketer who played 20 first-class cricket, first-class matches for Worcestershire County Cricket Club, Worcestershire between 1955 and 1961. Davies made his first-class debut for Worcestershire against Oxford University Cricket Club, Oxford University at The University Parks in June 1955; he scored 11 not out in his only innings and took one wicket in each innings (those of John Baker (cricketer), John Baker and Stanley Metcalfe). He also played against Cambridge University Cricket Club, Cambridge University and Somerset County Cricket Club, Somerset that season and did not appear in first-class cricket again for five years. Davies returned to the Worcestershire side in 1960. He did not bowl at all that year, although he did score the first of his three half-centuries: 51not out, * against Middlesex County Cricket Club, Middlesex near the end of the season. Cambridge University Cricket Club
Cambridge University Cricket Club, established in 1820, is the representative cricket club for students of the University of Cambridge. The club was recognised as holding first-class cricket, first-class status until 2020. The university played List A cricket in 1972 and 1974 only. It has not played top-level Twenty20 cricket. With some 1,200 members, home matches are played at Fenner's. The club has three men's teams (Blues, Crusaders and the Colleges XI) and one women's team (from the incorporation of Cambridge University Women's Cricket Club (CUWCC) in 2000) which altogether play nearly 100 days of cricket each season. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field, at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails (small sticks) balanced on three stumps. Northamptonshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Northamptonshire. Its limited overs team is called the Northants Steelbacks – a reference to the Northamptonshire Regiment which was formed in 1881. The name was supposedly a tribute to the soldiers' apparent indifference to the harsh discipline imposed by their officers. Stanley Metcalfe
Stanley Gordon Metcalfe (20 June 1932 – 16 September 2017) was an English first-class cricketer. He played first-class cricket on 27 occasions, mostly for Oxford University and the Free Foresters. Life and first-class cricket Metcalfe was born at Horsforth in June 1932 and attended the nearby Leeds Grammar School. From there he went up to Pembroke College, Oxford. While at Oxford he made his debut in first-class cricket for Oxford University against Gloucestershire in 1954 at Oxford. He played first-class cricket for Oxford until 1956, making seventeen appearances. He scored 595 runs in his seventeen matches, an average of 20.51 and a high score of 75. He first played for the Free Foresters in 1958, playing in seven first-class matches for them between 1958–68.
