Transcona (electoral District)
Transcona is a provincial electoral division in the Canada, Canadian Provinces and territories of Canada, province of Manitoba. The riding was created by redistribution in 1968, and has formally existed since the 1969 Manitoba general election, 1969 provincial election. It was created out of Radisson (electoral district), Radisson and a small slice of Springfield (provincial electoral district), Springfield. The riding is named after and contains Transcona, Winnipeg, Transcona, a neighbourhood in the easternmost tip of the city of Winnipeg. It is bordered to the southwest by Southdale (electoral district), Southdale, the west by St. Boniface (provincial electoral district), St. Boniface and Radisson (electoral district), Radisson, and in all other directions by the rural riding of Springfield-Ritchot. Daryl Gary Reid, (born November 2, 1950) is a former politician in Manitoba, Canada. He represented the electoral division of Transcona in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1990 to 2016, serving as a member of the New Democratic Party, and was the speaker of the Legislative Assembly from October 2011 to March 2016. Richard Kozak (born September 20, 1949 in Saint Boniface, Manitoba) is a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1988 to 1990, representing the eastern Winnipeg riding of Transcona for the Manitoba Liberal Party. Kozak was educated in Political Science at the University of Winnipeg, French at Université Laval and Political Economy at the University of Toronto. He worked as a financial planner before entering political life. In the Manitoba provincial election of 1988, Kozak was elected in Transcona over incumbent New Democrat Wilson Parasiuk by 709 votes.
