TransPennine Trains Limited, trading as TransPennine Express (TPE), is a British train operating company that has operated passenger services in the TransPennine Express franchise area since May 2023. It runs regional and inter-city rail services between the major cities and towns of Northern England and Scotland. The company, which is owned by DfT Operator, the government's operator of last resort, was established following poor performance by the previous commercially owned operator, also called TransPennine Express. Northern Trains, Trade name, trading as Northern, is a British train operating company that operates Commuter rail, commuter and Inter-city rail, medium-distance intercity services in the North of England. South Humberside Main Line
The South Humberside Main Line runs from Doncaster on the East Coast Main Line to Thorne where it diverges from the Sheffield to Hull Line. It then runs eastwards to Scunthorpe and the Humber ports of Immingham and Grimsby, with the coastal resort of Cleethorpes as terminus. Route From Doncaster the line forms a joint route with the Sheffield–Hull line to Hatfield, passing Hatfield Colliery where the lines diverge at Thorne Junction. The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a major investment being made in the railway between York and Manchester ''via'' Leeds and Huddersfield in the north of England.
