Track Time Trial
The track time trial is a track cycling event where cyclists compete individually against the clock to record the fastest time over the specified distance from a standing start. Time trial bikes Track time trial bikes differ from normal track bikes in two major ways; firstly they have disc or 3–5 spoked wheels, and secondly they often use aero-bars to allow the rider to adopt a more aerodynamic riding position. The frames are often more streamlined to reduce air resistance. Track Cycling
Track cycling is a Cycle sport, bicycle racing sport usually held on specially built banked tracks or velodromes using purpose-designed track bicycles. History Track cycling has been around since at least 1870. When track cycling was in its infancy, it was held on velodromes similar to the ones used today. These velodromes consisted of two straights and slightly banked turns, though they varied more in length and material than the modern 250 m track. One appeal of indoor track racing was that spectators could be easily controlled, and hence an entrance fee could be charged, making track racing a lucrative sport. Early track races attracted crowds of up to 2,000 people. Indoor tracks also enabled year-round cycling for the first time. Velodrome
A velodrome is an arena for track cycling. Modern velodromes feature steeply banked oval tracks, consisting of two 180-degree circular bends connected by two straights. The straights transition to the circular turn through a moderate easement curve. History The first velodromes were constructed during the late 1870s, the oldest of which is the Preston Park Velodrome, Brighton, United Kingdom, built in 1877 by the British Army. Some were purpose-built just for cycling, and others were built as part of facilities for other sports; many were built around athletics tracks or other grounds and any banking was shallow. The UCI Track Cycling World Championships – Women's 500 m time trial is the women's world championship 500 m Time Trial event held annually at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships. Félicia Ballanger of France, and Natalya Tsylinskaya (née Markovnichenko) of Belarus, are the most successful riders in the history of the event with five titles each. Track Time Trial At The Olympics
The track time trial is a defunct track cycling event formerly held at the Summer Olympics. The event was first held for men at the first modern Olympics in 1896. It was not held again until 1928, when it became a consistent part of the programme and was held every year from then until 2004, after which the event was eliminated. A women's version was added in 2000, being held only twice before being eliminated along with the men's event after 2004. The distance of the time trial was one kilometre for men (except 1896, when it was one-third of a kilometre) and half a kilometre for women. Kenny is the winner of most Olympic gold medals (7) and medals (9) by a British athlete. Nicholas Paul (born 23 September 1998) is a Trinidadian Track cycling, track cyclist, who specializes in sprinting events. He competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Cycling at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Men's keirin, Men's keirin on 11 August 2024. An omnium (from Latin ''omnium'': of all, belonging to all) is a multiple race event in track cycling. Historically the omnium has had a variety of formats. In recent years, road racing has also adopted the term to describe multi-day races that feature the three primary road race events (time trial, mass start and criterium).
