The Tordera (; ) is a river of Catalonia (Spain). It flows through the town of Tordera. Course The river is long. Its source is in the Montseny Massif, and it discharges in the Mediterranean Sea. The river's average discharge is . Its main tributaries are the Riera de Gualba, Riera de Arbúcies, Riera de Santa Coloma and the Riera de Valmanya. The river runs through the protected areas of the Parc Natural del Montseny and the Parc Natural del Montnegre i el Corredor. The last stretch of the Tordera is a wide sandy bed subject to seasonal flow. The brackish lagoon in its final delta area is an important area for migratory birds. Santa Fe Reservoir
The Santa Fe Reservoir () is a reservoir on the Riera de Gualba, a tributary of the Tordera River. It is located within the Fogars de Montclús municipal term, Catalonia, Spain. The area is a popular destination for excursions and picnics and is easily accessible on foot from the nearest road. History At the beginning of the 20th century Ramón de Montaner, a publisher from Barcelona who had the project of building a luxury hotel in the area, bought the Santa Fe valley in the Montseny Range from the Alfaras family of Sant Celoni. Work on the hotel began in 1912 and a little dam was built in order to ensure electricity supply for it. Since the small dam —now known as ''l'Estanyol''— soon revealed itself insufficient, construction work of a second dam began in 1920. Montseny Brook Newt
The Montseny brook newt (; ''Calotriton arnoldi'') is a species of salamander in the family Salamandridae. It is endemic to the Montseny Massif (Catalan Pre-Coastal Range) in northeast Spain. Before it was formally described in 2005, it was mixed with the larger and more widely distributed Pyrenean brook salamander (''Calotriton asper'', formerly ''Euproctus asper''). Description Montseny brook newt males measure and females in snout–vent length. Tail is and the maximum body size is . Dorsum is dark, chocolate-coloured. Head is strongly flattened. Body is oval in cross-section and with some dorsoventral compression. When handled, Montseny brook newts release a whitish, noxious, sticky, and very odorous skin secretion.
