Tom Stolhandske
Carl Thomas Stolhandske (born June 28, 1931) is an American former professional football player for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL) and the Edmonton Eskimos of the Western Interprovincial Football Union. He played college football for the Texas Longhorns. Early life and college Carl Thomas Stolhandske was born on June 28, 1931, in Baytown, Texas. He attended Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown. Stolhandske was a member of the Texas Longhorns of The University of Texas from 1949 to 1952 and a three-year letterman from 1950 to 1952. At Texas, Stolhandske was a First-Team All-American Defensive End who played on two Southwest Conference Championship teams, went to the Cotton Bowl twice and won it in 1953. He also played end and had a 123 yard receiving game against North Carolina in 1952 (including a 62 yard touchdown reception). After college he played in the 1953 Hula Bowl. Tight End
The tight end (TE) is an offense (sports), offensive position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football. It is a hybrid that combines the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a receiver (football), receiver. As part of the receiver corps, they play inside the flanks (tight), contrasted with the split end who plays outside the flanks (wide). Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. Western Interprovincial Football Union
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division. With a few exceptions, a senior men's football championship has been contested in Western Canada since 1911, and with a few additional exceptions the Western champion has played the Eastern champion for the Grey Cup. Although its teams have been members of the CFL since 1958, the then-Western Football Conference remained a distinct legal entity until 1981. The five teams in the West Division are the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Elks, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Hula Bowl
The Hula Bowl is a post-season college football all-star game held annually, usually in January. From inception through the 2021 playing, it was held in Hawaii; since the 2022 edition, it has been played in Orlando, Florida. The game was first staged in 1947, between Contiguous United States, mainland collegiate players and local Hawaiian players; it has been played exclusively with collegiate players since 1960. The bowl was paused following its 2008 edition, then was revived in January 2020. The game was originally held at Honolulu Stadium in Honolulu, then moved to Aloha Stadium in Halawa, Hawaii, Halawa starting with the January 1976 edition.
