Toijala
Toijala is a former town and municipality of Finland, located some south of Tampere. On 1 January 2007, it was consolidated with Viiala to form the town of Akaa. Toijala is known as an important railway crossroads. The Helsinki–Tampere and Turku–Tampere tracks meet at Toijala railway station. Toijala is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Pirkanmaa region. The municipality had a population of 8,305 (end of April 2004) and covered an area of of which is water. The population density () was . The municipality was unilingually Finnish. Until 2015, Toijala hosted a Nokia office which since 1997 collaborated with Päivölän Kansanopisto by having some of its students work as paid interns for 12 hours/week. Toijala Railway Station
Toijala railway station (; ) is located in the Toijala district of the town of Akaa, Finland. The station is located at a crossing point of three different railway tracks: from Riihimäki to Tampere, from Turku to Toijala, and from Toijala to Valkeakoski. Originally, all three tracks served both personnel and cargo traffic, but personnel traffic to Valkeakoski was discontinued in 1956. Nowadays, all passenger trains between Helsinki and Tampere, except Pendolino trains, and all trains from Turku to Tampere and on towards Oulu and Pieksämäki stop at Toijala. Akaa
Akaa ( sv, Ackas) is a town and a municipality in Pirkanmaa, Finland. It was created on January 1, 2007 when the town of Toijala and the municipality of Viiala were united into a single town. The municipality of Kylmäkoski was consolidated with Akaa on 1 January 2011. The convert has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . Aki Sirkesalo
Aki Pekka Antero Sirkesalo (25 July 1962 – 26 December 2004) was a Finnish singer and broadcaster. Career Sirkesalo started his public career in 1984 as an announcer in the Finnish Broadcasting Company radio show ''Rockradio''. In 1986, he formed a band called Giddyups and later a successful a cappella group Veeti and the Velvets. Sirkesalo released his first solo album ''Mielenrauhaa'' in 1995. He went on to make four more solo albums, the last of which, ''Sanasta miestä'', was released posthumously in February 2005. Sirkesalo also hosted music-related TV shows for the Finnish Broadcasting Company. Death Sirkesalo, aged 42, and his family (wife Johanna, aged 38, son Sampo, aged 8 and daughter Saana, aged 4) drowned after being struck by the tsunami during their vacation in Khao Lak, Thailand, in 2004. Jarkko Ahola
Jarkko Kalevi Ahola (born 24 August 1977, in Toijala) is a performing artist, a composer and a singer. He is the vocalist and bass player and one of the three songwriters of the band Teräsbetoni. He is also a member of a Finnish symphonic metal cover supergroup Northern Kings together with Marko Hietala from Nightwish, Tarot and Sapattivuosi, Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica and Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto from Charon and Harmaja. Other bands Jarkko has been involved with are Dreamtale, Cosmic Spell and Helmisetti. In addition, Jarkko has taken part in the Raskasta Joulua project incorporating the sound of metal to Christmas carols. He is a lefthanded bass player. Eveliina Similä (born 10 April 1978) is a Finnish retired ice hockey player. She competed in 73 matches with the Finnish national team, including the women's tournament at the 2006 Winter Olympics and the IIHF World Championship in 2004 and 2005. Representing Finland, she won a World Championship bronze medal in 2004.
