Tina Brown (runner)
Tina Brown (born 22 August 1976) is a British female former distance runner who competed mostly in the 3000 metres steeplechase and the 1500 metres. Biography A member of Coventry Godiva Harriers, Brown became the British 3,000 metres steeplechase champion after winning the British AAA Championships title at the 2004 AAA Championships. It was the first ever national women's race over the 3000 m distance. The following year Brown retained the title ahead of her rival Jo Ankier at the 2005 AAA Championships. She was nationally prominent during the period when the women's steeplechase event gained championship level status, and she set a British record of 9:48.57 minutes in 2005 (beaten a year later by Lizzie Hall). She twice represented England in the steeplechase at the Commonwealth Games. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping and throwing. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, cross-country running, and racewalking. The results of racing events are decided by finishing position (or time, where measured), while the jumps and throws are won by the athlete that achieves the highest or furthest measurement from a series of attempts. Lisa Dobriskey
Lisa Jane Dobriskey (born 23 December 1983 in Ashford, Kent) is a retired English middle-distance runner. She was the Commonwealth Games champion in the 1500 m in 2006 and won a silver medal in the same distance at the 2009 World Championships. Career After winning her school's 800 m at age 11, her teachers suggested that she join the local athletic club. Dobriskey won Amateur Athletic Association titles at Under 15/17/20 and 23. She was the fastest British under-17 girl at 800m (2:08.67) and fourth fastest at 1500 m (4:31.7) in 1999, and the third fastest at 1500 m (4:28.10) in 2000. She won the English Schools 800 m title for Juniors in 1998 and for Intermediates in 1999 and made her junior international debut indoors against Germany and France at 1500 m in 2000. The Athletics (sport), athletics competition at the 2010 Commonwealth Games was held in New Delhi, India between 6 and 14 October. The track and field events took place between 6–12 October at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium while the marathon contests were held on a street course running through the city on 14 October. A total of 46 athletics events were contested, which made it the sport with the second greatest number of medals on offer after the Aquatics at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, aquatics competition.
