Tidewater Community College
Tidewater Community College (TCC) is a public community college in South Hampton Roads, Virginia, with campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. It is part of the Virginia Community College System and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award the associate degree. History The school was founded in 1968, when a local philanthropist, Fred W. Beazley, closed the existing Frederick College and deeded the land to the Commonwealth of Virginia for the creation of Tidewater Community College. With the support of Hampton Roads' municipalities, TCC quickly expanded to Virginia Beach and Chesapeake, and in the 1990s, it helped revitalize downtown Norfolk by establishing a campus in former department store buildings. Norfolk State University
Norfolk State University (NSU) is a Public university, public Historically black colleges and universities, historically black university in Norfolk, Virginia. It is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and Virginia High-Tech Partnership. History The institution was founded on September 18, 1935, as the Norfolk Unit of Virginia Union University. Eighty-five students attended the first classes held in 1935. Lieutenant Governor Of Virginia
The lieutenant governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia is a constitutional officer of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The lieutenant governor is elected every four years along with the governor and attorney general. The office is currently held by Winsome Earle Sears, who was elected in 2021 and is the first woman of color to hold this position. Winsome Sears
Winsome Earle-Sears (born March 11, 1964) is an American politician, businesswoman, and Marine Corps veteran serving as the 42nd lieutenant governor of Virginia since 2022. A member of the Republican Party, she is Virginia's first female lieutenant governor and the first woman of color to hold statewide office in Virginia. Born in Jamaica, Earle-Sears immigrated to the United States in 1970. She served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2004. Christopher Michael Richardson (born February 19, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter who was the fifth-place finalist on the sixth season of ''American Idol''. Kevin Leonardo Newsome, Jr. (born January 21, 1991) is a former American college football quarterback from Portsmouth, Virginia who played for the Penn State Nittany Lions football team from 2009 to 2011, and for the Temple Owls football team in 2012. Early life Newsome was born in Portsmouth, Virginia and attended Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, Virginia until his junior year, where he transferred to Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia. Cecil Lewis (born February 3, 1981) is an American soccer player who last played for the Norfolk SharX in the Major Indoor Soccer League. Career Lewis grew up in Georgia, attended community college for one year, then moved to Virginia Beach with his girlfriend to attend Tidewater Community College. He played one season with Tidewater, scoring seventeen goals in ten games. This brought him to the attention of the Virginia Beach Mariners who signed him for the 2002 A-League season. After two season with the Mariners, Lewis moved to the Wilmington Hammerheads for the 2004 season. He played one regular season game before suffering a season-ending injury. John A. Cosgrove (born June 7, 1954) is an American politician. On August 16, 2013, he was sworn in as a member of the Senate of Virginia, representing the 14th district, after winning an August 6 special election to replace the retiring Harry Blevins.
