Thornlie–Cockburn Line
The Thornlie–Cockburn line is a suburban railway line and service in Perth, Western Australia, operated by the Public Transport Authority (Western Australia), Public Transport Authority as part of the Transperth system. The line branches from the Armadale line in Kenwick, Western Australia, Kenwick and heads south-west on a route alongside the Kwinana freight railway and the Kwinana Freeway to Cockburn Central, Western Australia, Cockburn Central. Thornlie–Cockburn line services continue north-west of Beckenham station alongside Armadale line services, terminating at Perth railway station, Perth station. The line opened on 7 August 2005 as the Thornlie line, originally a one-station spur off the Armadale line that ran along a single track to Thornlie railway station, Thornlie station. Thornlie Railway Station
Thornlie railway station is a suburban railway station on the Transperth network. Located from Perth station, it serves the suburb of Thornlie, Western Australia. It was the original terminus of the Thornlie line, a spur of the Armadale line, before the line was extended through to Cockburn Central station along the Mandurah line via two stations, Nicholson Road station and Ranford Road station. Upon completion of the extension, the Thornlie line was renamed the Thornlie-Cockburn line. Thornlie, Western Australia
Thornlie is a large residential suburb of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, located south-east of the city's central business district. It is a part of the City of Gosnells local government area. The Canning River runs through the northern side of the suburb. Since the 1950s the suburb has developed in approximately five stages; north-east Thornlie (1950s–60s), south Thornlie (1970s–80s), Crestwood (1970s), Castle Glen (1980s) and Forest Lakes (1980s to present). History Captain Peter Pégus was the original settler of the area now known as Thornlie, which he had called "Coleraine" when granted the land in 1829. Prior to this the area would have been used by the indigenous Noongar population. In 1834, Pégus' premises and belongings were burned in a fire that was to prove the end of his settlement. Roe Highway
Roe Highway is a limited-access highway and partial freeway in Perth, Western Australia, linking Kewdale with the city's north-eastern and south-western suburbs. The northern terminus is at Reid Highway and Great Northern Highway in Middle Swan, and the southern terminus is with Murdoch Drive at the Kwinana Freeway interchange in Bibra Lake. Roe Highway, in addition to Reid Highway, form State Route 3, a partial ring road around the outer suburbs of the Perth metropolitan area. Roe Highway also forms part of National Highway 94 from Great Eastern Highway Bypass to Great Eastern Highway, and National Highway 95 from Great Eastern Highway to Great Northern Highway. Albany Highway
Albany Highway links Western Australia's capital city Perth with its oldest settlement, Albany, Western Australia, Albany, on the state's South coast of Western Australia, south coast. Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project
The Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project is a project by the Government of Western Australia to elevate part of the Armadale line, thereby removing six level crossings and rebuilding five stations to modern standards. The project is a part of the wider Metronet (Western Australia), Metronet initiative undertaken by the state government. The stations to be rebuilt as part of the project are, from north to south, Carlisle railway station, Perth, Carlisle, Oats Street railway station, Oats Street, Queens Park railway station, Perth, Queens Park, Cannington railway station, Cannington, and Beckenham railway station, Beckenham.
