''This Is What We Do'' is the fourth studio album by English electronic group Leftfield. It was released on 2 December 2022 by Virgin Records. It is the band's first album in seven years, following the 2015 album ''Alternative Light Source''. The album features appearances by Fontaines D.C. frontman Grian Chatten and poet Lemn Sissay. Background The album was written during Neil Barnes' recovery from cancer. On 27 July 2022, Leftfield announced the release of their first album in seven years, along with the first single "Pulse". The second single "Accumulator" was released on 21 September 2022. Cover art The album's cover art was photographed by American photographer Steve McCurry, and was "chosen to reflect the warmth and positivity of this musically eclectic and upbeat record as well as to celebrate the connections that we make with other throughout our lives." Leftfield
Leftfield are a British electronic music group formed in London in 1989, a duo of Neil Barnes and Paul Daley (the latter formerly of The Rivals and A Man Called Adam). The duo was influential in the evolution of electronic music in the 1990s, with '' Mixmag'' describing them as "the single most influential production team working in British dance music". As with many of their contemporaries, such as The Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim, Leftfield are notable for their use of guest vocalists in their works. Among them are Toni Halliday on " Original", Johnny Rotten on " Open Up", Djum Djum on " Afro-Left", Earl 16 and Cheshire Cat on " Release the Pressure", and Grian Chatten of Fontaines D.C. on "Full Way Round". Record Store Day is a semi-annual event established in 2008 to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store". Held on one Saturday (typically the third) every April and every Black Friday in November, the day brings together fans, artists, and thousands of independent record stores around the world. Grian Chatten
Grian Alexander Chatten (; born 19 July 1995) is an Irish musician, best known as the lead singer and lyricist of post-punk band Fontaines D.C. Early life Grian Chatten was born in Barrow-in-Furness, England on 19 July 1995 to an English mother and Irish father. The family moved to Ireland when Chatten was a month old and lived a "nomadic lifestyle" before settling in Skerries, County Dublin when he was twelve years old. Chatten moved to The Liberties in Dublin and attended The British and Irish Modern Music Institute, where he met guitarists Conor Curley and Carlos O'Connell, bass player Conor Deegan, and drummer Tom Coll. Weighted Arithmetic Mean
The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some data points contribute more than others. The notion of weighted mean plays a role in descriptive statistics and also occurs in a more general form in several other areas of mathematics.
