''Thirsty Ears'' is second studio album by Canadian blues band, Powder Blues, released in 1981. ''Thirsty Ears'' was the band's follow up to ''Uncut'', released the year before. The Powder Blues Band is a Canadian blues/pop/jazz band formed in 1978 in Vancouver. Its first album ''Uncut'' went double platinum in Canada. The second album ''Thirsty Ears'' was similarly popular. Liberty Records was a record label founded in the United States by chairman Simon Waronker in 1955 with Al Bennett as president and Theodore Keep as chief engineer. It was reactivated in 2001 in the United Kingdom and had two previous revivals. History 1950s Liberty's early releases focused on film and orchestral music. Tom Lavin
Tom Lavin is a Chicago-born musician and record producer and founding member of the Juno Award winning (1981) Canadian group, Powder Blues. Leader, Tom Lavin has written many of the band’s best-known songs including ‘Doin’ It Right’ a SOCAN Classics Winner and ‘Boppin With the Blues’. Tom Lavin has won BCMIA awards for ‘Guitarist, Singer, Songwriter and Producer of the Year’, a Juno award for ‘Best New Band’ and the American W.C. Handy Blues Music Award. As a record producer, Lavin has over a dozen gold, and platinum records for Powder Blues, Prism, April Wine, Long John Baldry, Amos Garrett, and many others. Lavin played guitar on Prism's self-titled album, '' Prism'' (1977) on GRT Records, and guitar and drums on the Dale Jacobs and Cobra album for CBS Records (1977). ''Uncut'' is the debut studio album released by Canada's the Powder Blues. It was originally released in December 1979 on the Blue Wave label. RCA re-issued the album in February 1980, with the song "Gimme Some Lovin'" removed from the album. ''Uncut'' was produced by Jack Lavin. The album was nominated at the 1981 Juno Awards for "Album of the Year", and the band won the Juno Award for "Most Promising Group of the Year" the same year. Duris Maxwell (15 June 1946 – 25 November 2020), also known as Ted Lewis, was a Canadian drummer who had played with many bands, including Bobby Taylor & the Vancouvers, Powder Blues Band, Doucette, The Temptations, Jefferson Airplane, and Skylark. He had also played on the albums ''Dreamboat Annie'' by Heart and '' Ki'' by Devin Townsend. Biography Duris Maxwell (Mohawk) (aka Ted Lewis, until legal name change to Duris Maxwell in 1970) was born June 15, 1946, in East York, Ontario. His family moved to Vancouver in 1948. His mother was a pianist and his father played fiddle and guitar, and he began playing drums as a pre-schooler. He first began touring with Evan Kemp and the Trail Riders in 1960 at the age of 14.
