The Wounded Angel
''The Wounded Angel'' (; ; 1903) is a painting by Finnish symbolist painter Hugo Simberg. It is one of the most recognizable of Simberg's works, and was voted Finland's "national painting" in a vote held by the Ateneum art museum in 2006. In a similar 2013 vote held by Nordic Moneta, it was voted second most important. The painting Like other Simberg works, the atmosphere is melancholic: the angelic central figure with her bandaged forehead and bloodied wing, the sombre clothing of her two youthful bearers. The right-hand figure's gaze is fixated beyond and to the right of the viewer. Hugo Simberg
Hugo Gerhard Simberg (24 June 1873 – 12 July 1917) was a Finland, Finnish Symbolism (movement), symbolist painter and graphic artist. Life and career Simberg was born on 24 June 1873, at Hamina (), Finland, the son of Colonel Nicolai Simberg and Ebba Matilda Simberg (née Widenius). In 1891, at the age of 18, he enrolled at the Drawing School of the Viipuri Friends of Art, and he also studied at the Drawing School of the Finnish Art Society from 1893 to 1895. Then, in 1895, he decided to become the private pupil of Akseli Gallen-Kallela at his wilderness studio Kalela in Ruovesi. He studied under Gallen-Kallela for three periods between 1895 and 1897. In 1896, Simberg went to London, and in 1897 to Paris and Italy. ''Ghibli Experimental Theater On Your Mark'' ( Japanese: ジブリ実験劇場 On Your Mark, Hepburn: ''Jiburi Jikkengekijō On Yua Māku'') is an animated music video created by Studio Ghibli for the song " On Your Mark" (also released in English as "Castles in the Air") by the Japanese rock duo Chage and Aska . The song was released in 1994 as part of the single "Heart". In 1995, Hayao Miyazaki wrote and directed the short film for the song as a side-project after having writer's block with '' Princess Mononoke''. The anime music video is non-linear, providing multiple reiterations and alternate scenes to depict the events. The music video added sound effects to the audio track, but contains no dialogue. Miyazaki purposely misinterpreted the lyrics to present his vision of a world where the surface becomes inhospitable and humans live in an underground city. "Amaranth" is the thirteenth single by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. It was released as the first official single from their sixth studio album, ''Dark Passion Play'', and was the second single overall to feature former frontwoman Anette Olzon, following the promotional single " Eva". The official release date was 22 August 2007 but it was leaked onto the Internet earlier, though the exact date it leaked is unknown. The title song includes all of the band members, but the single contains a bonus track called " While Your Lips Are Still Red", on which Olzon and the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen do not play. This song is used in the Finnish film ''The Matriarch'', released in September 2007. The official video for "Amaranth" was released on 15 June and has had over 100 million views. Nightwish is a Finnish symphonic metal band from Kitee. The band was formed in 1996 by lead songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and former lead singer Tarja Turunen. The band soon picked up drummer Jukka Nevalainen, and then bassist Sami Vänskä after the release of their debut album, ''Angels Fall First'' (1997). ''Spiritual Black Dimensions'' is the fourth studio album by Norwegian symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir. It was released in 1999 by Nuclear Blast Records. It is a first release featuring keyboardist Mustis and the clean vocals of ICS Vortex, and the last one with long-time drummer Tjodalv, guitarist Astennu, and bassist Nagash. The album marks major compositional and stylistic shift from romantic influences of their previous albums to more sinister and macabre sound.
