The Wild Angels is an English rock and roll group. The group got their name from the 1966 Roger Corman film '' The Wild Angels'' starring Peter Fonda.Aynsley, Steve (2002). Biography The Wild Angels was formed in the summer of 1967 with Mal Gray on vocals, John Hawkins on guitar, John Huggett on keyboards, Mitch Mitchell on bass guitar, Bill Kingston on piano and Bob O’Connor on drums. John Huggett was soon replaced by Pete Adderson. The band signed with B&C records in 1969 after having one release ("Nervous Breakdown"/"Watch the Wheels Go Round") on Major Minor, also in 1969, and following a successful tour with Gene Vincent during 1969, bassist Mitch Mitchell left the band to be replaced by Rod Cotter. "I Fought the Law" is a song written by Sonny Curtis of the Crickets and popularized by a cover by the Bobby Fuller Four, becoming a top-ten hit for the band in 1966. Their version of the song was ranked No. 175 on the ''Rolling Stone'' list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2004, and the same year was named one of the 500 "Songs that Shaped Rock" by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Thomas John Patrick McGuinness (born 2 December 1941) is an English guitarist, singer and songwriter who played guitar and bass with rock band Manfred Mann, among others, before becoming a record and television producer. Early life McGuinness was born in Wimbledon, South London in 1941, studied at Wimbledon College and has Irish ancestry. One of his first bands, The Roosters, included an 18-year old Eric Clapton on lead guitar. Career Manfred Mann Following a stint in the short-lived Roosters with Eric Clapton, McGuinness joined the 1960s group Manfred Mann as a bassist, performing in a line-up with Paul Jones. Geoffrey Britton (born 1 August 1943) is an English rock drummer known for his work with Wings from May 1974 to January 1975, where he was featured on the '' Venus and Mars'' album. Career Britton was born in Lewisham, South East London. He was a member of the progressive rock band East of Eden which formed in Bristol from June to December 1969 and recorded the album ''Snafu''. Afterward he joined the Wild Angels. After leaving Wings in early 1975 Britton was a member of Manfred Mann's Earth Band from 1978 to 1979, playing on the '' Angel Station'' album. Bill Haley & His Comets were an American rock and roll band formed in 1947 and continuing until Haley's death in 1981. The band was also known as Bill Haley and the Comets and Bill Haley's Comets.
