''The Transformation'' is the second studio album by American gospel artist James Fortune and his choir, F.I.Y.A. The album was released on March 13, 2007, via the Worldwide Music Label. The album charted at number 119 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and 3 on the Top Gospel Charts. James Fortune released two singles from the album; "I Trust You", which peaked at number 52 on the Top R&B Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, and "I Wouldn't Know You", which peaked at number 2 on the Top Gospel Songs chart. Gospel Music
Gospel music is a traditional genre of Christian music and a cornerstone of Christian media. The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of gospel music vary according to culture and social context. Gospel music is composed and performed for many purposes, including aesthetic pleasure, religious or ceremonial purposes, and as an entertainment product for the marketplace. Gospel music is characterized by dominant vocals and strong use of harmony with Christian lyrics. Gospel music can be traced to the early 17th century. Hymns and sacred songs were often performed in a call-and-response fashion, heavily influenced by ancestral African music. James Fortune
James Fortune is a gospel music recording artist, songwriter and producer. He is also a radio personality on 1190 AM WLIB. Music career James Fortune & FIYA's highly debut CD, ''You Survived'', was released in September 2004. He was honored at the 19th annual ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards for his hit single "You Survived" off the same album. "You Survived" also peaked as the No. 2 most played Gospel song in the country and has remained in the Top seven for three years. The radio single, "God Can" features Micah Stampley and Zacardi Cortez. Fortune received a 2006 ASCAP Writers Award for "You Survived". FIYA has been nominated four years in a row for the Texas Gospel Youth & Young Adult Choir of the year.
