''The Story Thus Far'' is the fourth and final album (third studio album) by the band Axium, with David Cook (lead vocals/guitar/egg shaker), Bobby Kerr (drums/tambourine/vocals), Jeff Shrout (guitar/piano), Neal Tiemann Neal Tiemann (born December 22, 1982) is an American musician, currently the lead guitarist and songwriter of the rock band the Midwest Kings (MWK). He is a former rhythm guitarist for Heavy metal music, heavy metal band DevilDriver, and served ... ( Midwest Kings) (bass guitar), and additional guitar on "AC" by Nick Gibson. Art direction and design was by Bobby Kerr and David Cook and photography by Bad Ass Jackson. The album was produced by Paul Johnson and AXIUM. It was mixed by Paul Johnson and mastered by Ed Knoll. Axium
Axium was a Missouri-based band once headed by ''American Idol'' season 7 winner David Cook. Their sound was described as Alice in Chains meets Tantric. History David Cook formed Axium in his junior year of high school alongside drummer Bobby Kerr. The band was originally called Red Eye, but they changed it because it sounded too much like Pink Eye. The first performance as Axium (actually spelled Axiom at the time) consisted of Cook, Kerr, as well as Matt McLaughlin on guitar and Drew Foss on bass. Foss was soon replaced by Anthony Mazzarella, and this lineup recorded an unnamed 5 song demo. Cook and Kerr then went through a few bass players in search of the perfect band, but these two always stuck together. It was in May 2001 that Cook and Kerr finally found Jeff Shrout. In June 2004 they recruited Travis Grogan on bass in support of their final studio album, The Story Thus Far. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Post-grunge
Post-grunge is an offshoot of grunge that has a less abrasive or intense tone than traditional grunge. Originally, the term was used almost pejoratively to label mid-1990s alternative rock bands such as Bush (British band), Bush, Candlebox, Collective Soul, Live (band), Live, Foo Fighters, and Silverchair, that emulated the original sound of grunge. Hard rock or heavy rock is a heavier subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and Distortion (music), distorted electric guitars. David Roland Cook (born December 20, 1982) is an American rock singer-songwriter. Cook rose to fame after winning the American Idol season 7, seventh season of ''American Idol'' in 2008. Neal Tiemann (born December 22, 1982) is an American musician, currently the lead guitarist and songwriter of the rock band the Midwest Kings (MWK). He is a former rhythm guitarist for Heavy metal music, heavy metal band DevilDriver, and served as the lead guitarist for David Cook (singer), David Cook's band, The Anthemic, from 2008 to 2011. He spent most of 2009 on the Declaration Tour with Cook and served as the tour's music director. Tiemann played guitar on Cook's major label debut album, ''David Cook (album), David Cook'' (2008), as well as his independently released, ''Analog Heart'' (2006). Tiemann also played on Burn Halo's 2009 ''Burn Halo (album), self-titled album'' and Bryan Jewett's album ''A Brief Look at the New You''. The seventh season of ''American Idol'' began on January 15, 2008 and concluded on May 21, 2008. Ryan Seacrest continued to host the show, while Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson returned as judges. David Cook was announced as the winner on May 21, 2008, defeating runner-up David Archuleta by a margin of roughly 12 million votes out of over 97 million, which was at that time the highest recorded vote total in the show's history.
