The Radiators (Australian Band)
The Radiators are an Australian pub rock band formed in September 1978. Mainstay members are Brian Nichol on lead vocals, Stephen "Fess" Parker on guitar and Geoff Turner on bass. In 1989 they were joined by Mark Lucas on drums. Their most popular albums are '' Feel the Heat'' (March 1980) and '' Scream of the Real'' (May 1983), which both peaked in the top 25 of the Australian Kent Music Report Albums Chart. Their best known songs are " Comin' Home", "No Tragedy" and "Gimme Head". Rock music historian, Ian McFarlane described the group as "an archetypal, hard-working pub-rock band capable of delivering tightly crafted, well-executed, hard-hitting metal-pop anthems backed by a playful sense of humour. Pub rock is a style of Australian rock and roll that peaked in popularity throughout the 1970s and 1980s, and that continues to influence Music of Australia, Australian music into the 21st century. It is named after the live music circuit in which most associated bands developed their sound: inner-city and suburban Australian pubs, pubs. These often noisy, hot, small and crowded venues favoured loud, riff-based heavy rock. The Police
The Police were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. Within a few months of their first gig, the line-up settled as Sting (lead vocals, bass guitar, primary songwriter), Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums, percussion), and this remained unchanged for the rest of the band's history. The Police became globally popular from the late 1970s to the mid-1980s. Emerging in the British new wave scene, they played a style of rock influenced by punk, reggae, and jazz. is a Japanese multinational manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, electronic equipment, and software. It was founded by Ikutaro Kakehashi in Osaka on 18 April 1972. Hordern Pavilion (known locally as The Hordern) is a building located in Moore Park, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on the grounds of the old Sydney Showground. ''Gimme Ted'', or more fully ''Gimme Ted – The Ted Mulry Benefit Concerts'', is an Australian 2×DVD video and tribute album by Various Artists, which was released on 19 May 2003. It was recorded at two eponymous benefit concerts on 9 and 10 March 2001, with "some of Australia's finest musicians from the past and present" as well as "One-off reunions of classic bands." The artists were honouring rock musician Ted Mulry, who had been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in the previous year. The shows were compèred by Glenn A. Baker, Donnie Sutherland and Ray Burgess. Mulry's backing band, the Ted Mulry Gang (TMG) performed on both nights with his brother Steve Mulry substituting on lead vocals. Australian groups reuniting for the concerts included Sherbet, Sebastian Hardie (with Jon English), the Masters Apprentices and INXS (with both Richard Clapton and Jon Stevens on vocals). A brain tumor (sometimes referred to as brain cancer) occurs when a group of cells within the brain turn cancerous and grow out of control, creating a mass. There are two main types of tumors: malignant (cancerous) tumors and benign (non-cancerous) tumors. These can be further classified as primary tumors, which start within the brain, and secondary tumors, which most commonly have spread from tumors located outside the brain, known as brain metastasis tumors. Martin Albert Mulry (2 September 19471 September 2001), known professionally as Ted Mulry, was an English-born Australian singer, songwriter, bass player and guitarist. As a solo artist, his second single, "Falling in Love Again" (February 1971), reached No. 11 on the ''Go-Set'' National Top 60. From September 1972 he led his own band, Ted Mulry Gang, which were also credited as TMG. They had a number-one hit single on the Kent Music Report with " Jump in My Car" (September 1975) and top ten appearances with a cover version of " Darktown Strutters' Ball" (February 1976), and with "Jamaica Rum" (January 1977) and "My Little Girl" (May). The Screaming Jets
The Screaming Jets are an Australian hard rock band formed in Newcastle, New South Wales from the band Aspect formed in high school by Grant, Dave, Frank Manitta and Grant Wiltshire (deceased) in 1984 which Paul Woseen was also a later member of. In 1989 The Screaming Jets were formed by Grant Walmsley, Dave Gleeson, Paul Woseen, Brad Heaney and Richard Lara. Chain (band)
Chain are an Australian blues band formed as The Chain in late 1968 with a line-up including guitarist and vocalist Phil Manning and lead vocalist Wendy Saddington. Saddington left in May 1969 and in September 1970 Matt Taylor joined on lead vocals and harmonica. During the 1990s they were referred to as Matt Taylor's Chain. Their single, "Black and Blue" (January 1971), is their only top twenty hit. It was written and recorded by the line-up of Manning, Taylor, Barry Harvey on drums and Barry Sullivan on bass guitar. The related album, ''Toward the Blues'', followed in September and peaked in the top ten. Manfred Mann's Earth Band covered "Black and Blue" on their 1973 album '' Messin'''.
