The Overview (album)
''The Overview'' (stylised ''TH5 OV5RV95W'') is the eighth studio album by English progressive rock musician Steven Wilson, released on 14 March 2025 via Fiction Records. Featuring only two 20-minute tracks, it returned to a progressive rock sound after Wilson had previously moved into more electronic territory with the two preceding releases. Background The record is a concept album about the overview effect, a cognitive shift caused by viewing the Earth from space. This concept was utilized, according to Wilson, as a starting point for the sound of the record, which recalls the sound of such seminal prog artists as Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, and Vangelis, though brought into "a modern context". Wilson has stated that the album is going to be considerably more progressive rock influenced than much of his recent work, stating that he felt the concept geared itself well to the genre. Steven Wilson
Steven John Wilson (born 3 November 1967) is an English musician. He is the founder, guitarist, lead vocalist, and songwriter of the rock band Porcupine Tree, as well as being a member of several other bands, including Blackfield, Storm Corrosion and No-Man. He is also a solo artist, having released eight solo albums since his solo debut Insurgentes (album), ''Insurgentes'' in 2008. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Wilson has made music prolifically and earned critical acclaim. Andy Partridge
Andrew John Partridge (born 11 November 1953) is an English guitarist, singer-songwriter and record producer best known for co-founding the band XTC. He and Colin Moulding each acted as a songwriter and frontman for XTC, with Partridge writing and singing about two-thirds of the group's material. While XTC were a formative British New wave music, new wave group, Partridge's songwriting drew heavily from 1960s pop and Psychedelic music, psychedelia and his style gradually shifted to more traditional pop, often with pastoral themes.
