The New Quarterly
''The New Quarterly'' is a literary magazine based in Waterloo, Ontario that publishes short fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction from emerging and established Canadian writers. History and profile ''The New Quarterly'' was established in 1981. The magazine is published on a quarterly basis. It publishes Canadian poetry, prose, creative non-fiction, and occasional interviews with established writers. However, its mandate is to encourage and nurture new and emerging talent. The magazine tries to strike a balance between a serious and playful tone, above all celebrating literature. Each issue is given a loose theme; for example, "In which science becomes metaphor, poets don lab coats...", "Something About the Animal", and "Fathers, Mothers, Lovers & Others". Tamas Dobozy
Tamas Dobozy is a Canadian writer and professor at Wilfrid Laurier University. Early life Dobozy was born in the city of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Between the ages of 3 and 18 he lived in Powell River, British Columbia, and subsequently in Victoria, Montreal, Budapest, Vancouver, Toronto, and St. John's. He received his BA/BFA in English/Creative Writing from The University of Victoria, his MA in English from Concordia University, and his Ph.D. in English from the University of British Columbia. Career Dobozy taught at Memorial University and currently teaches in the Department of English and Film Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario. McClelland & Stewart Limited is a Canadian publishing company. It is owned by Random House of Canada, Penguin Random House of Canada, a branch of Penguin Random House, the international book publishing division of German media giant Bertelsmann. History It was founded in 1906 as McClelland and Goodchild by John McClelland and Frederick Goodchild, both originally employed with the "Methodist Book Room" which was in 1919 to become the Ryerson Press. Richard Kelly Kemick
Richard Kelly Kemick (born 28 December 1989) is a Canadian author, journalist, and poet. Most notably, he has published a book of poetry, a short story collection, and a book of creative nonfiction. Biography Kemick was born in Calgary, Alberta. In 2012, he graduated with a BA degree from the University of British Columbia, followed by an MA from the University of New Brunswick in 2014. In 2020, he received a PhD in English literature from the University of Calgary. Career In 2016, Kemick published the poetry collection ''Caribou Run'' with Goose Lane Editions. In 2019, he published a book of creative nonfiction book, ''I Am Herod,'' again with Goose Lane Editions. Creative nonfiction (also known as literary nonfiction, narrative nonfiction, literary journalism or verfabula) is a genre of writing that uses literary styles and techniques to create factually accurate narratives. Creative nonfiction contrasts with other non-fiction, such as Academic writing, academic or technical writing or journalism, which are also rooted in accurate fact though not written to entertain based on prose style.
