The Naked Time
"The Naked Time" is the fourth episode of the first season of the American science fiction television series ''Star Trek''. Written by John D. F. Black and directed by Marc Daniels, it first aired on September 29, 1966. In the episode, a strange, intoxicating infection, which lowers the crew's inhibitions, spreads throughout the ''Enterprise''. As the madness spreads, the entire ship is endangered. This was the first episode in which the audience saw the Vulcan nerve pinch (the nerve pinch was actually filmed first in " The Enemy Within", but the latter was broadcast a week after "Naked Time"). The story has a sequel in '' Star Trek: The Next Generation'', the 1987 episode " The Naked Now". Plot The USS ''Enterprise'' under the command of Captain Kirk arrives at the dying planet Psi 2000. ''Star Trek'' is an American science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry that follows the adventures of the starship and its crew. It acquired the retronym of ''Star Trek: The Original Series'' (''TOS'' to distinguish the show within the media franchise that it began. The show is set in the Milky Way galaxy, 2266–2269. The ship and crew are led by Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner), First Officer and Science Officer Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and Chief Medical Officer Leonard H. "Bones" McCoy (DeForest Kelley).
