The Abstinence
"The Abstinence" is the 143rd episode of the United States, American sitcom ''Seinfeld''. This was the ninth episode for the Seinfeld season 8, eighth season, originally broadcast on the NBC network on November 21, 1996. This episode focuses on George Costanza, George and Elaine Benes, Elaine's experiments with sexual abstinence, which has a polar opposite effect on each one's intelligence. Passive smoking is the inhalation of tobacco smoke, called passive smoke, secondhand smoke (SHS) or environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), by individuals other than the active smoker. Cosmo Kramer, usually referred to simply by his surname, is a fictional character in the American television sitcom ''Seinfeld'' (1989–1998) played by Michael Richards. Elaine Marie Benes () is a fictional character on the American television sitcom ''Seinfeld'', played by former SNL cast member Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Elaine's best friend in the sitcom is her ex-boyfriend Jerry Seinfeld, and she is also good friends with George Costanza and Cosmo Kramer.
