Teviot Brook
Teviot Brook is a waterway in South East Queensland, Australia. It rises in the Main Range at Carneys Creek, Queensland, Carneys Creek and joins the Logan River at Cedar Grove, Queensland, Cedar Grove. It is part of the Clarence Moreton Basin, a sedimentary basin on the easternmost part of the Australian continent. The catchment experiences strong seasonality with heavy rainfall in summer and a dry winter. Teviot Brook passes through the town of Boonah, Queensland, Boonah and Mount Alford, Queensland, Mount Alford. Close to its mouth, Teviot Brook is crossed by the Sydney–Brisbane rail corridor. Allan Cunningham (botanist)
Allan Cunningham (13 July 1791 – 27 June 1839) was an English botany, botanist and List of explorers, explorer, primarily known for his expeditions into uncolonised areas of eastern Australia to collect plants and report on the suitability of the land for grazing purposes. Early life Cunningham was born in Wimbledon, London, England, the son of Allan Cunningham (head gardener at Wimbledon Park House), who came from Renfrewshire, Scotland, and his English wife Sarah (née Juson/Jewson née Dicken). Allan Cunningham was educated at a Putney private school, Reverend John Adams (educational writer), John Adams Academy and then went into a solicitor's office (a Lincoln's Inn Conveyancer). Clarence Moreton Basin
The Clarence Moreton Basin is a Mesozoic sedimentary basin on the easternmost part of the Australian continent. It is located in the far north east of the state of New South Wales around Lismore and Grafton and in the south east corner of Queensland. It is the part of the Great Artesian Basin that extends to the east coast in Australia's central eastern lowlands. Description It formed by oblique extension of the underlying Paleozoic New England Orogen basement. Flinders Peak Group
The Flinders Peak Group is an unnamed range of hills located on the northern edge of the Scenic Rim Region, south west of Logan City and south east of the City of Ipswich in South East Queensland, Australia. The Summit (topography), summit in the Range is Flinders Peak reaching above sea level. The first Europeans to cross the range were Patrick Logan and his exploration party in June 1827. Most of the range remains naturally vegetated within a series of protected areas. Both the Flinders-Goolman Conservation Estate and the Flinders Peak Conservation Park are located along this range. Other mountains include Mount Joyce, Mount Blaine, Mount Goolman, Mount Elliott, Mount Flintoff, Mount Welcome and Ivorys Rock. The range is visible from many locations around the Scenic Rim. Allenview is a rural locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Allenview had a population of 209 people. Geography Most of the eastern boundary is marked by the Logan River where irrigated agriculture is the predominant land use. The North Coast railway line also marks a section of the eastern boundary. Wyaralong Dam
The Wyaralong Dam is a mass concrete gravity dam with an un-gated spillway across the Teviot Brook that is located in the South East region of Queensland, Australia. The main purpose of the dam is for supply of potable water for the Scenic Rim region. The dam was initiated by the Queensland Government in 2006 as a result of the prolonged Millennium drought which saw the catchment areas of South East Queensland's dams receive record low rain. It was completed in 2011. Location and features The dam is located approximately north-west of . The dam wall itself is split between the localities of Wyaralong and Allenview, but the bulk of impounded water is within Wyaralong. Roxburghshire or the County of Roxburgh () is a historic county and registration county in the Southern Uplands of Scotland. The River Teviot (; ), or Teviot Water, is a river of the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, and is the largest tributary of the River Tweed by catchment area. The Teviot is an important river for wildlife, especially the Atlantic salmon, but in recent years has witnessed at least four extreme flooding events. Course It rises in the western foothills of Comb Hill on the border of Dumfries and Galloway.
