Terry Griffiths
Terence Martin Griffiths (16October 19471December 2024) was a Welsh professional snooker player, coach and pundit. After winning several amateur titles, including the Welsh Amateur Championship (snooker), Welsh Amateur Championship in 1975 and back-to-back English Amateur Championships in 1977 and 1978, Griffiths turned professional in June 1978 at the age of 30. In his second professional tournament, he qualified for the 1979 World Snooker Championship. He reached the final of the event where he defeated Dennis Taylor by 24 to 16. This was only the second time a qualifier had won the World Snooker Championship, after Alex Higgins in 1972 World Snooker Championship, 1972; only Shaun Murphy in 2005 World Snooker Championship, 2005, and Zhao Xintong in 2025 World Snooker Championship, 2025 has since emulated the achievement. Llanelli

Steve Davis (born 22 August 1957) is an English retired professional snooker player who is currently a Sports commentator, commentator, DJ, electronic musician and author. He dominated professional snooker in the 1980s, when he reached eight World Snooker Championship finals in nine years, won six world titles and held the List of world number one snooker players, world number one ranking for seven consecutive seasons. He won 28 ranking titles during his career, placing him fifth on the List of snooker players by number of ranking titles, all-time list, behind Ronnie O'Sullivan (41), Stephen Hendry (36), John Higgins (33) and Judd Trump (30). Mark James Williams (born 21March 1975) is a Welsh professional snooker player who is a three-time World Champion, winning the title in 2000, 2003 and 2018. He has been ranked the world number one player three times (May 2000 May 2002, May 2003 May 2004 and May 2011 September 2011). His most successful season to date was 200203, when he won snooker's Triple Crown—the UK Championship, the Masters and the World Championship—making him only the third player, after Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry, to have won all three events in the same season. World Professional Billiards And Snooker Association
The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) is the governing body of professional snooker and English billiards. It is headquartered in Bristol, England. Founded as the Professional Billiard Players Association (PBPA) in 1946, with Joe Davis as chairman, it was revived in 1968 after some years of inactivity and renamed the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association in 1970. Its current chairman is Jason Ferguson. The WPBSA devises and publishes the official rules of the two sports. John Parrott
John Stephen Parrott (born 11 May 1964) is an English former professional snooker player who won the 1991 World Snooker Championship. He came to prominence in the mid to late 1980s, and remained within the top 16 of the world rankings for 14 consecutive seasons. Following his playing career, he became a snooker commentator and pundit. He twice reached the final of the World Snooker Championship. At the 1989 World Snooker Championship, he lost 3–18 to Steve Davis, the heaviest defeat in a world championship final in modern times. Two years later, however, he defeated Jimmy White in the final of the 1991 event. He also won against White later the same year, to win the 1991 UK Championship title. Triple Crown (snooker)
The Triple Crown in professional snooker refers to winning the sport's three longest-running and most prestigious tournaments: the World Snooker Championship (first held in 1927 and staged as a knockout tournament continuously since 1969), the invitational Masters (held annually since 1975), and the UK Championship (held annually since 1977). In January 2020, the three tournaments were formally named the ''Triple Crown Series''. Any player who has won all three Triple Crown tournaments at least once over the course of their career is said to have won a "career Triple Crown", and they gain the right to wear an embroidered crown on their waistcoat to reflect the achievement. 1982 UK Championship
The 1982 UK Championship (officially the 1982 Coral UK Championship) was a professional non-ranking snooker tournament that took place at the Guild Hall in Preston, England, between 20 November and 4 December 1982. This was the sixth edition of the UK Championship and the fifth staging of the competition in Preston. The event was sponsored by Coral for the fifth year in a row. The televised stages were shown on the BBC from 27 November through to the end of the championship. Terry Griffiths won his first and only UK title by winning the last three frames of the final to defeat Alex Higgins 16–15. On his way to victory, Griffiths also beat defending champion Steve Davis, who had defeated him in the previous year's final. The highest break of the tournament was a 137 made by Higgins.
