Soundgarden
Soundgarden was an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984 by singer and drummer Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Cornell switched to rhythm guitar in 1985, replaced on drums initially by Scott Sundquist, and later by Matt Cameron in 1986. Yamamoto left in 1989 and was replaced initially by Jason Everman and shortly thereafter by Ben Shepherd. Soundgarden disbanded in 1997 and reformed in 2010. Following Cornell's death in 2017, Thayil declared in October 2018 that Soundgarden had disbanded a second time. The surviving members of the band have continued to occasionally work together since then, including reuniting for a one-off concert in tribute to Cornell in January 2019, and again in December 2024 for a benefit concert in Seattle with Shaina Shepherd on vocals under the anagram Nudedragons. Soundgarden was one of the pioneers of grunge music, a style of alternative rock that developed in the American Pacific North ...

Warriors Of Rock
''Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock'' is a 2010 rhythm game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision. It is the sixth main installment, the eleventh overall installment in the ''Guitar Hero'' series and the final title in the ''Guitar Hero'' series to be developed by Neversoft. The game was released in September 2010 for PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360. Like the previous entries in the series, it is geared towards playing in a four-person band experience, including lead and bass guitar, drums, and vocals. The game is available as a standalone title, allowing players to use existing compatible instrument controllers, and as a bundle that provides these controllers. ''Warriors of Rock'' shares core gameplay elements with its predecessors, but introduced a new story mode in which the player must recruit eight characters—each with a unique ability that modifies the mechanics of the game—to help defeat an antagonist known as "The Beast". The storyline also incorporated R ...

The single debuted at number 24 and number 14 on the US ''Billboard'' Alternative Songs chart and the US ''Billboard'' Rock Songs chart respectively in August 2010. It is also Soundgarden's only song to chart on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, peaking at #96. The song appears on the compilation album ''Telephantasm'' and on the music video game '' Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock'' and ''Guitar Hero Live''. It was the first single that Soundgarden had released since 1997. Origin and recording The song was mostly recorded during sessions for ''Badmotorfinger'' in 1991. Badmotorfinger
''Badmotorfinger'' is the third studio album by American rock band Soundgarden, released on October 8, 1991, through A&M Records. Soundgarden began the recording sessions for the album with new bassist Ben Shepherd in the spring of 1991. The album maintained the band's heavy metal sound, while featuring an increased focus on songwriting compared to the band's previous releases. AllMusic considered the album's music to be "surprisingly cerebral and arty"; alternative tunings and odd time signatures were present on several of the album's songs, and lyrics were intended to be ambiguous and evocative. The focus on the Seattle grunge scene helped bring attention to ''Badmotorfinger'', and the singles " Outshined" and " Rusty Cage" found a major audience in rock radio and MTV. ''Badmotorfinger'' became the band's highest charting album at the time on the ''Billboard'' 200, where it peaked at number 39. The album received critical acclaim, citing the significant improvements over ...

''Screaming Life'' is the debut EP by American Rock music, rock band Soundgarden, released in November 1987 by Sub Pop. It was later combined with the band's next EP, ''Fopp (EP), Fopp'' (1988), and released as the ''Screaming Life/Fopp'' compilation album in 1990. Recording The EP was recorded in late 1986 in Seattle, Washington (state), Washington, at Hall of Justice (studio), Reciprocal Recording with producer Jack Endino, who also produced albums for Nirvana (band), Nirvana and Mudhoney. Music and lyrics Drummer Matt Cameron described the sound on the EP as "pretty raw". "Hunted Down", Soundgarden's first single, is representative of the early "grunge" sound—with its dirty guitar, dissonant atmosphere and lyrics concerning entrapment and escape. "Nothing to Say" features drop D tuning, which would become a signature of Soundgarden's sound on later albums. Guitarist Kim Thayil said he learned about the tuning from Buzz Osborne of the Melvins, when Osborne was telling him ab ...

A-Sides (Soundgarden Album)
''A-Sides'' is a compilation album by the American rock band Soundgarden with songs spanning the band's thirteen-year career. It was released on November 4, 1997, through A&M Records. Overview Guitarist Kim Thayil said the song list emerged out of list of what each member "thought would make a 'best of' and then we cross-referenced them", adding that while the typical compilation titles 'Best Of' and 'Greatest Hits' was thought by them to a subjective name - "that's something that an individual fan can make of his own collection, and these aren't necessarily our personal favourites" - they went with ''A-Sides'' to reflect that these were the A-side singles released on the band's original run. The opening track "Nothing to Say" was originally a B-side to the band's first single " Hunted Down" on Sub Pop in 1987, but Thayil said it took precedence for being their first song to draw a label's attention as part of a compilation titled ''Bands That Will Make Money''.
