Talitres, formerly known as Talitres Records, is a French independent record label based in Bordeaux, founded in 2000 and specializing in indie pop and folk music. It began as a way to release music from indie rock bands that were not distributed in France and Europe, and has expanded to include various artists from all around the world. The label has released notable records by The National, Motorama, Destroyer, François & the Atlas Mountains, Emily Jane White, and many others. Talitres' first release was Elk City's debut album in March 2001 and has gone on to release between 5 and 8 albums each year since then. Chronowax
Chronowax was a record distribution and production company based in Paris launched by music entrepreneur Olivier Rosset in 1998. Chronowax started as a key anchor for the growing French rap scene. The company's roster would later represent more than 300 labels such as SubPop, Def Jam, Secretly Canadian, and Ed Banger and sold more than 30 million records between 1998 and 2005. In 2000, Chronowax was acquired by Richard Branson V2 Music Group. From 2003 to 2005, Chronowax developed its own label, signed and developed early careers of bands like TTC, The Knife, BLoc Party, Chromeo, and Kourtrajmé. The Organ (band)
The Organ was a Canadian post-punk band formed in 2001 in Vancouver, British Columbia. They officially broke up on December 7, 2006, due to illness and personal conflicts in the band. Biography Early years The Organ were conceived in 2001 by frontwoman Katie Sketch, born Katie Ritchie, in Vancouver, BC. Sketch's musical training started at the age of three, when she began classical training on the violin. Her childhood was spent largely in ignorance of the underground sounds of The Smiths, The Cure, and Joy Division, whom The Organ would later often be favorably compared to. Bella Union is a British independent record label founded in 1997 by Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins. It is now run solely by Raymonde. History After releasing records with 4AD for a large part of their career, Cocteau Twins decided to start up the Bella Union record label in 1997, through which they could release their own work as well as any collaborative efforts. The band split up not long after, but instead of letting the newly formed label go under, Robin Guthrie, Simon Raymonde and their former manager Fiona Glyn-Jones decided to take charge of it.
