Taleeb Noormohamed
Taleeb Farouk Noormohamed (born October 8, 1976) is a Canadian politician and technology executive who has been the Member of Parliament for Vancouver Granville since 2021. A member of the Liberal Party, Noormohamed was named Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Canadian Heritage in September 2023. Education and career Noormohamed attended high-school at St. George's School in Vancouver. Noormohamed completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University where he completed an independent concentration in International Relations and Islamic Civilizations. He later earned a master's degree from Harvard University and attended Oxford University for his doctoral studies. After completing his degree, Noormohamed worked for the federal government, first at the Privy Council Office, and then for Public Safety Canada, where he was the director of the review of the bombing of Air India Flight 182. Vancouver Granville is a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2015. The district includes all or significant portions of the Kerrisdale, Marpole, Oakridge, Shaughnessy, South Cambie, Fairview and Riley Park–Little Mountain neighbourhoods. Based on the Canada 2011 Census data, the population of the district is 99,886. Vision Vancouver is a green liberal municipal political party in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Vision was formed in the months leading up to the 2005 municipal election. Formation Vision was founded by former Coalition of Progressive Electors (COPE) members first elected to Vancouver City Council in 2002. Following that election, Mayor Larry Campbell and Councillors Jim Green, Raymond Louie and Tim Stevenson were dubbed "COPE Light" by the local media due to their moderate positions on taxation and development, as opposed to the more leftist "COPE Classic" councillors. The 2019 Canadian federal election was held on October 21, 2019. Members of the House of Commons were elected to the 43rd Canadian Parliament. Hedy Madeleine Fry, (born August 6, 1941) is a Canadian politician and physician, and is currently the longest-serving female Member of Parliament. A member of the Liberal Party, she has won eleven consecutive elections in the constituency of Vancouver Centre, starting with the 1993 election, when she defeated incumbent Prime Minister Kim Campbell. Early life and career Fry was born in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago. She is of Scottish, Spanish, Indian, and Chinese ancestry. After declining an English Literature scholarship to the University of Oxford, Fry earned her equivalent of a BA in Science in one year and then went on to receive her medical training at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland.
