The city of Zhanaarka is located to the ENE of the mouth of the Taldymanaka. The water of the river is fresh upstream from the big bend. It is used for drinking purposes and watering livestock. Course The Taldymanaka originates in springs of the southern slopes of the Aktau massif of the Kazakh Uplands. It heads northwards in its upper course as a mountain river within a to wide valley bound by steep cliffs. After it leaves the mountain area it flows within a floodplain among agricultural fields where a reservoir has been built recently. Sarysu (river)
The Sarysu (, ''Sarysu''; , ''Sarysu'') is a river in Karaganda, Ulytau, Turkistan, and Kyzylorda Regions of Kazakhstan. It is long, and has a drainage basin of . The name ''sary su'' means ''yellow water'' in Turkic languages. Course It arises above Zhanaarka and flows generally westward towards Kzyl-Dzhar where it turns south-westward past Birlestik and Zhanabas, then heading ever-more southerly it ends in the Telikol, across a cluster of small intermittent lakes at the western end of the Ashchykol Depression and to the east of the Dariyaly plain. River Boktykaryn runs parallel to it just before the Sarysu bends west towards the Telikol. |
Atasu (river)
The Atasu () is a river in the Zhanaarka District, Ulytau Region, and Shet District, Karaganda Region, Kazakhstan. It has a length of and a drainage basin of .Google Earth It is one of the most important tributaries of the Sarysu. The city of Karazhal is located near the river. The Kylysh (Қылыш) reservoir was built at the time of the Kazakh SSR close to Kylysh village, to the ESE of the town. Course The Atasu river originates in the Uzynzhal massif of the Kazakh Uplands. Its source is in a spring near Kyzyltau. It heads at first westwards in its upper course across Shet District. After it leaves the mountain area it bends roughly northwestwards, already in Zhanaarka District, and flows in that direction until a little to the east of Karazhal, where it bends northwards. Sentinel-2
Sentinel-2 is an Earth observation mission from the Copernicus Programme that acquires optical imagery at high spatial resolution (10 m to 60 m) over land and coastal waters. The mission's Sentinel-2A and Sentinel-2B satellites were joined in orbit in 2024 by a third, Sentinel-2C, and in the future by Sentinel-2D, eventually replacing the A and B satellites, respectively. A drainage basin is an area of land in which all flowing surface water converges to a single point, such as a river mouth, or flows into another body of water, such as a lake or ocean.
