Séverine (singer)
Séverine (born Josiane Grizeau; 10 October 1948) is a French singer. Séverine won the Eurovision Song Contest in Eurovision Song Contest 1971, 1971 for Monaco, performing "Un banc, un arbre, une rue" (''A bench, a tree, a street''), with music by Jean-Pierre Bourtayre and words by Yves Dessca. It was recorded in English as "Chance in Time", in German as "Mach die Augen zu (und wünsch dir einen Traum)" and Italian language, Italian as "Il posto". The original French version made #9 in the UK Singles Chart in May 1971, whereas the English version, released on Columbia Records, CBS rather than Philips Records, Philips, did not chart. The song charted highly in most other European markets. Séverine had further success in France and Germany, but never again on an international scale. The Eurovision Song Contest 1973 was the 18th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, following the country's victory at the with the song "Après toi" by Vicky Leandros. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Compagnie Luxembourgeoise de Télédiffusion (CLT), the contest was held at the Grand Théâtre on 7 April 1973 and was hosted by German television presenter Helga Guitton. Seventeen countries took part in the contest this year, with and deciding not to participate, and competing for the first time. Vasiliki Papathanasiou ( el, Βασιλική Παπαθανασίου; born 23 August 1949), generally known as Vicky Leandros ( el, Βίκυ Λέανδρος, links=no), is a Greek singer living in Germany. She is the daughter of singer, musician and composer Leandros Papathanasiou (also known as Leo Leandros as well as Mario Panas). In 1967 she achieved worldwide fame after gaining fourth place for the country of Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "L'amour est bleu", which became a worldwide hit.
