Séamus Harnedy
Séamus Harnedy (born 17 July 1990) is an Irish hurler who plays for East Cork Championship club St Ita's, divisional side Imokilly and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a centre-forward. Playing career University College Cork During his tenure at University College Cork, Harnedy played a key role for the university's various hurling teams. In 2010 he was at corner-forward when UCC faced fierce local rivals and three-in-a-row Cork Institute of Technology in the final of the All-Ireland Freshers Championship. UCC went on to secure a 3-8 to 1-7 victory, giving Harnedy a winners' medal. Harnedy progressed onto the UCC senior team during the 2011-12 college year, and lined out in the final of the Fitzgibbon Cup. CIT provided the opposition, however, UCC claimed an extra-time win as they celebrated the centenary of the competition on home soil with a narrow 2-15 to 2-14 victory. St Ita's GAA
St Ita's is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in the village of Gortroe, (near Youghal), County Cork, Ireland. It competes in competitions organized by Cork county board and the Imokilly divisional board. In 2013, Seamus Harnedy became the first player from the club to play with the Cork senior hurling team. He was a major success and ended up with being included in the 2013 and 2018 All-Star team. History History records show that in 1901 St Ita's played under the name of Gortroe in the East Cork Hurling division their opponents were Blackrock. The records do not give scores but it is shown that Blackrock advanced to the next stage of the competition. The following year 1902 its recorded that Gortroe played against Evergreen in the firsts and against United Nationals in the seconds. 2010 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 2010 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 122nd staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the 2010 opening round fixtures took place on 13 December 2009. The championship began on 1 May 2010 and ended on 10 October 2010. Newtownshandrum were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Erin's Own in the quarter-finals. On 29 August 2010, Blarney were relegated from the championship following a 1–14 to 1–12 defeat by Blackrock. On 10 October 2010, Sarsfields won the championship following a 1–17 to 0–18 defeat of Glen Rovers in the final. The 2011 National Hurling League (known as the Allianz Hurling League for sponsorship reasons) was the 80th season of the National Hurling League. Ticket prices In January 2011, the GAA announced a reduction in ticket prices for the 2011 National Hurling League. The decision to cut prices was announced at a Central Council meeting and will see the cost of admission to a league game in the first division of the NHL dropping from €15 to €13, with a €5 admission to lower-level hurling games. Division 1 Galway came into the season as defending champions of the 2010 season. Wexford entered Division 1 as the promoted team. Waterford Crystal Cup
The Waterford Crystal Cup was an annual hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association from 2006 to 2015 for the top inter-county teams and third-level institutes and universities in the province of Munster in Ireland. The series of games were played during January and February. The prize for the winning team is a special piece of glassware donated by Waterford Crystal. This cup competition was always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the series of games. The 2011 Bord Gáis Energy GAA Hurling All-Ireland Under-21 Championship is the 48th staging of the All-Ireland Championship since its inception in 1964. Games were played between 1 June and 10 September 2011. Galway won the title after a 3–14 to 1–10 win against Dublin. Glen Rovers GAA
Glen Rovers is a Cork-based Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Blackpool, Cork, Ireland. The club was founded in 1916 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. They were Cork senior hurling champions in 2015 and 2016, having won their first title in 26 years in 2015. They retained the championship in 2016, when they beat Erin's Own in the final. Only Blackrock have won more Cork senior hurling championships. Hurling Colours In the early days of the club, its colours were green, white and gold. The Easter Rising and the execution of the leaders took place in the same year the Glen was founded. These events left such an impression on the minds of the Irish public that it was decided to add a black band to the jersey to honour the recently deceased patriots. The 2019 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 131st staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the 2019 opening round fixtures took place on 15 January 2019. The championship began on 26 March 2019 and ended on 20 October 2019. The final was played at Páirc Uí Rinn in Cork, between defending champions Imokilly and Glen Rovers, in what was their first meeting in a final in 70 years. Original venue, Páirc Uí Chaoimh, was deemed unplayable due to an unsatisfactory playing surface. Midleton GAA
Midleton Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Midleton in County Cork, Ireland. The club plays in the Imokilly division of Cork GAA. History The concept of a Gaelic Athletic Association was first mooted in 1883 when a sub-committee of the Irish Republican Brotherhood was formed with the ideal of creating a National Athletic body. Midleton man, P.N Fitzgerald was one of the committee members who eventually set up the Gaelic Athletic Association and thus Midleton's love affair and commitment to the G.A.A. was established.
