Synchronized Swimming At The 2004 Summer Olympics
Synchronized swimming at the 2004 Summer Olympics was held in the Olympic Aquatic Centre where 104 competitors challenged for 2 gold medals in the duet and team events. Each event was made up of a technical and free routine with the points added together to determine the medalists. Athens Olympic Aquatic Centre
The Athens Olympic Aquatic Centre is a complex at the Athens Olympic Sports Complex, consisting of two outdoor pools and one indoor pool, that was built for the 1991 Mediterranean Games. It was refurbished and expanded for the 2004 Summer Olympics. The larger of the outdoor pools, which seats 11,500 spectators, hosted swimming and water polo events. The smaller pool, which hosted synchronized swimming, sat 5,300 fans. The indoor pool, which hosted the diving events, sat 6,200 observers. It is used for swimming, too. The outdoor pool was the subject of significant controversy during the run-up to the Olympic games. A roof was planned that would have shielded the swimmers from the blazing Athens sun. This feature was later scrapped, leaving the athletes and most of the fans without shade during the events. Rebecca Jasontek (born February 26, 1975) is an American competitor in synchronized swimming. She is the youngest daughter of Michael and Virginia Jasontek. Erin Dobratz
Erin Dobratz (born October 19, 1982 in Concord, California) is a retired American synchronized swimmer. She shared a silver medal in the combination routine, and captured a bronze for the Americans in the team event at the 2003 FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Spain. On that same year, Dobratz added a gold to her career hardware in the same tournament at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, Dobratz helped the Team USA reclaim its spot to the medal podium with a bronze medal in the women's team event. Tamara "Tammy" Crow DeClercq (born February 3, 1977) is an American competitor and coach in synchronized swimming. Crow was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She participated in the Santa Clara Aquamaids team. She won an Olympic bronze medal in the team competition. Teammates included Anna Kozlova, Alison Bartosik, Rebecca Jasontek, Sara Lowe, Lauren McFall, Stephanie Nesbitt and Kendra Zanotto.
