Syed Thajudeen
Syed Thajudeen Shaik Abu Talib (born 23, August 1943) is a Malaysian painter. He is known for his large scale mural paintings of epic proportions set in period landscapes. A distinctive stylisation, romantic treatment of subject matter and the rich colours as in the Ajanta cave paintings of Maharashtra and of the Mughal (enriched from the wealth of Indian mythology) are apparent in his works. This, together with the traditional visual arts' integral connection with literature, music, dance, sculpture and philosophy, helped shape Syed's early works. His works, as individualistic as they are, attempt to evoke a state of rasa, or heightened mood that belongs to a larger tapestry and sensibility of Asian artistic traditions. In many instances where his favourite subject matters deal with women and love, they share the same archetypal symbols and metaphors. The Government College of Fine Arts (initially known as the Madras School of Art) in Chennai is the oldest art institution in India. The institution was established in 1850 by surgeon Alexander Hunter as a private art school. In 1852, after being taken over by the government, it was renamed as the Government School of Industrial Arts. In 1962, it was renamed as the Government School of Arts and Crafts and the Government College of Arts and Crafts, before finally being renamed as present. Alagankulam is a village situated on the east coast in the Ramanathapuram Taluk and district. The village is situated on the banks of the Vaigai River and is about away from the seashore. The village is located east of Ramanathapuram. The village has a population of 15,473 as of the Population Census of 2011. The carbon dating report of the artefacts excavated from Azhagankulam in Ramanathapuram District revealed that they dated back to 345 BC. With the artefacts having Tamil inscriptions, this could prove that Tamil was older than Prakrit which is dated to be from 268 BC to 232 BC.
