Sydney Stars
The Sydney Stars is a former Australian rugby union football team that competed in the National Rugby Championship (NRC) in 2014 and 2015. The Stars team was established as a joint venture between the Sydney Uni Football Club, Sydney University and Balmain RFC, Balmain rugby clubs, and was one of four New South Wales teams in the competition. The NRC was launched in 2014, reinstating the national competition after an absence of six years. Sydney University was initially interested in entering the NRC competition as a stand-alone club, but submitted a joint bid with Balmain as the Sydney Stars. Colours and logo The Sydney Stars' colours of gold, blue and black was drawn from the rugby clubs of Sydney University and Balmain. HMAS Vampire (D11)
HMAS ''Vampire'' was the third of three Australian-built ''Daring'' class destroyers serving in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). One of the first all-welded ships built in Australia, she was constructed at Cockatoo Island Dockyard between 1952 and 1959, and was commissioned into the RAN a day after completion. ''Vampire'' was regularly deployed to South East Asia during her career: she was attached to the Far East Strategic Reserve on five occasions, including during the Indonesia-Malaysia Confrontation, and escorted the troop transport on six of the latter's twenty-five transport voyages to South Vietnam. Cameron Blades
Cameron Blades (born 16 April 1971) is an Australian international former rugby union player who played at the loosehead prop position, but could also cover at tighthead prop and hooker. He played professionally for New South Wales Waratahs and Glasgow Warriors. Career Blades was born in Sydney. He had one full international cap for Australia against England in Sydney on 12 July 1997. Australia won the match 25 - 6. He also played for the Australian Under 21s. His brother Andrew Blades also played for Australia and was a member of the 1999 Rugby World Cup winning team. Chris Malone
Christopher Malone (born 8 January 1978 in Sydney) is an Australian rugby union coach and a former professional player. Malone is currently an assistant coach with the NSW Waratahs. He was previously head coach of Sydney University and the Sydney Stars in Australia's National Rugby Championship. Malone began his rugby career as a fly-half in Sydney's Shute Shield competition and played in the English Premiership for ten years. Mark Giacheri
Mark Giacheri (born 1 February 1969 in Sydney) is a former Italian-Australian rugby union player and a current coach. He played as a lock. He first played for New South Wales Waratahs, from 1988/89 to 1996/97. He moved to Benetton Treviso in 1995/96, playing there for two seasons and being National Champion in 1996/97. Then, he would play two seasons at West Hartpool, in England, from 1997/98 to 1998/99, one season at CA Brive, in 1999/2000. The New South Wales Country Cockatoos is an amateur representative rugby union football team. Players in the team are selected by the New South Wales Country Rugby Union from regions of New South Wales excluding Sydney and Southern NSW. New South Wales Country plays regular fixtures with other representative sides including City-Country matches with New South Wales Suburban for the Maher-Ross Cup, and the "Battle of the Borders" Cup against the Queensland Country Heelers. Northern Suburbs Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club in Sydney, Australia, that was formed in 1900 from the merger of the Pirates and Wallaroos clubs. North Sydney Oval
North Sydney Oval is a multi-use sporting facility in North Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, owned and operated by North Sydney Council. First used as a cricket ground in 1867, it is also used for Australian rules football, rugby league, rugby union and soccer. History Development The first cricket pitch was laid on 6 December 1867, making it one of the oldest cricket grounds in Australia. A simple pavilion overlooking the cricket ground was the first structure at the oval, built in 1879 and replaced in 1909. This was replaced by another pavilion which in turn was replaced by what is now the Duncan Thompson Stand in 1929. Southern Districts Rugby Club
Southern Districts Rugby Club is a rugby union club based in southern Sydney. The club currently competes in the New South Wales Rugby Union competition the Shute Shield. The club was formed by the amalgamation of the St George and Port Hacking clubs. History Formed in 1989 by the amalgamation of St George and Port Hacking rugby clubs, with headquarters at Forshaw Park, Sylvania Waters, south of Sydney. The new club played in red, sky blue, white and black jumpers and fielded 6 grade teams, 3 colts' sides, and an under-19XV.
