Sven-Harry Karlsson
Sven-Harry's Art Museum ( sv, Sven-Harrys Konstmuseum) is an art museum in Stockholm, Sweden, founded by builder Sven-Harry Karlsson. It is housed in a multi-purpose building alongside an art gallery, museum shop, apartments, and businesses. History The award-winning Swedish builder (b. 1931) has been an art collector since the mid-1960s, forming a collection including work by Carl Fredrik Hill, Helene Schjerfbeck, Ernst Josephson, August Strindberg, Edvard Munch, Anders Zorn, and others. He constructed a building to house his collection in Vasaparken in Stockholm's inner city. Designed by Gert Wingårdh and Anna Höglund of Wingårdh Architects, the 5-story building is clad in a gold-tinted copper-aluminium-zinc alloy designed not to darken when exposed to oxygen. Carl Fredrik Hill
Carl Fredrik Hill (31 May 1849 – 22 February 1911) was a Swedish painter and draftsman. He is known for the atmospheric landscapes he painted during the first four years of his career, and for the drawings of fantastical scenes he created after he became mentally ill in his late twenties. Helene Schjerfbeck
Helena Sofia (Helene) Schjerfbeck (; July 10, 1862 – January 23, 1946) was a Finnish painter. A modernist painter, she is known for her realist works and self-portraits, and also for her landscapes and still lifes. Throughout her long life, her work changed dramatically beginning with French-influenced realism and plein air painting. It gradually evolved towards portraits and still life paintings. At the beginning of her career she often produced historical paintings, such as the ''Wounded Warrior in the Snow'' (1880), ''At the Door of Linköping Jail in 1600'' (1882) and ''The Death of Wilhelm von Schwerin'' (1886). Historical paintings were usually the realm of male painters, as was the experimentation with modern influences and French radical naturalism. Ernst Josephson
Ernst Abraham Josephson (1851-1906) was a Swedish painter and poet. He specialized in portraits, genre scenes of folklife and folklore. Background He was born to a middle-class family of merchants of Jewish ancestry. His uncle, Ludvig Josephson (1832-1899) was a dramatist and his uncle Jacob Axel Josephson (1818-1880) was a composer. When he was ten, his father Ferdinand Semy Ferdinand Josephson (1814-1861) left home and he was raised by his mother, Gustafva Jacobsson (1819-1881) and three older sisters. Anders Zorn
Anders Leonard Zorn (18 February 1860 – 22 August 1920) was a Swedish painter. He attained international success as a painter, sculptor, and etching artist. Among Zorn's portrait subjects include King Oscar II of Sweden and three American Presidents: Grover Cleveland, William H. Taft, and Theodore Roosevelt. Karin Mamma Andersson
Mamma Andersson (born 1962) is a Swedish contemporary artist. She is based in Stockholm and is married to artist Jockum Nordström. Biography Born Anna Karin Andersson, she drew and painted from an early age without any family members being interested in art. Andersson's birthplace and childhood home of Luleå is in North Sweden, near the Polar circle. She studied at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm and her nickname Mamma ("Mother") was added at that time to differentiate herself from another student with the same name.
