''Sun Valley'' () is a 1996 Chinese film that was directed by He Ping. Along with his film, '' Swordsmen in Double Flag Town'', ''Sun Valley'' is considered one of He Ping's "Chinese westerns." The film stars Zhang Fengyi as The Avenger, a mysterious hero who arrives at the eponymous valley to await his enemies. ''Sun Valley'' was a Chinese-Hong Kong co-production between the China Film Co-Production Corporation, Xi'an Film Studio, Media Asia and Huanya Film Corporation. He Ping (; born 1957 in Shanxi) is a Chinese film director, screenwriter and producer whose main filmography consists of a hybrid genre of Western-wuxia movies. He made three movies along this genre - ''Swordsmen in Double Flag Town'' (1991), '' Sun Valley'' (1995) and ''Warriors of Heaven and Earth'' (2004). Personal life and background He Ping's mother was the female lead in Communist China's first feature film ''Bridge'' (1949). Yuan Chen (actor)
Yuan Zhen (; 779 – September 2, 831), courtesy name Weizhi (), was a Chinese novelist, poet, and politician of the middle Tang Dynasty. In prose literature, Yuan Zhen is particularly known for his work ''Yingying's Biography'', which has often been adapted for other treatments, including operatic and musical ones. In poetry, he is remembered for the inclusion of some of his poems by popular anthologies, his verses on exotic topics (such as the former Liangzhou), and for being part of the group of "New Yuefu" poets, which often used poetry as a form of expression and protest, but one potentially subtle enough to avoid the likely repercussions of more direct criticism. Wang Xueqi (; born 19 March 1946) is a Chinese film actor whose career has spanned over 25 years. He was often cast in early Fifth Generation films, such as Chen Kaige's '' Yellow Earth'' (1984) and '' The Big Parade'' (1986), Huang Jianxin's '' Samsara'', and Zhang Yimou's '' Codename Cougar'' (1989). Xi'an ( , ; ; Chinese: ), frequently spelled as Xian and also known by other names, is the capital of Shaanxi Province.
