Stuart Cunningham
Stuart Cunningham (born 1953) is Distinguished Emeritus Professor of Communication and Media Studies at QUT. Biography He is a Distinguished Emeritus Professor of Communication and Media Studies, Queensland University of Technology, and Former Director of the Australian Research Council ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation. He was President of the Council of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS) in Australia from September 2006 to October 2008. With degrees from the University of Queensland, and McGill University in Canada, Cunningham was awarded his Doctorate from Griffith University in Brisbane in 1988. He is well known for his contributions to media, communications and cultural studies and to their relevance to industry practice and government policy. Australian Broadcasting Authority
The Australian Broadcasting Authority (ABA) was an Australian government agency whose main roles were to regulate broadcasting, radiocommunications and telecommunications. The Authority took over the functions of the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal on 5 October 1992 as stipulated in the Broadcasting Services Act 1992. The Australian Broadcasting Tribunal took over the functions of the Australian Broadcasting Control Board in the 1970s. The engineering function in some cases was handled by the National Transmission Authority when the Post Office ceased being responsible for telecommunications. On 1 July 2005, the Australian Broadcasting Authority (ABA) and the Australian Communications Authority (ACA) were merged to form the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
