Strictly Rhythm
Strictly Rhythm is an American house music record label. History Strictly Rhythm relaunched in 2007 after a five-year break, following a venture with Warner Music. The label made a number of its recordings available for digital download and signed new productions from Quentin Harris, Osunlade, Chocolate Puma, Dennis Ferrer, Dirty South and Bob Sinclar. Three years later, in November 2010, the label opened a London office. Strictly Rhythm has offices in New York and London. In January 2013, BMG Rights Management agreed to acquire the historic Strictly Rhythm recordings catalogue and publishing rights for an undisclosed amount. Lenny Fontana is an American house music DJ from New York City. Biography Fontana first began deejaying professionally in the mid-1980s, playing at clubs such as Studio 54 and The Underground NYC. His first major exposure was with the track "A Mystical Journey", which hit #30 on the US '' Billboard'' Hot Dance Club/Play chart in 1996. He won international recognition as part of the production team for Powerhouse featuring Duane Harden, who scored a #1 dance hit in the US with " What You Need"; the song also hit #13 on the UK Singles Chart. Reel 2 Real was an American hip house musical project that had seven top 10 hits on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in the 1990s. Biography The project's core member was producer and DJ Erick Morillo from New York City, who spent a portion of his childhood living in Colombia and also in Union City, New Jersey. The first release as Reel 2 Real was " The New Anthem" which spent a week at No. 1 on the US Dance Chart in 1992. Although it peaked at No. 8 on the dance chart, Reel 2 Real is best known for the song "I Like to Move It", which featured Trinidadian toaster Mark Quashie, also known as The Mad Stuntman. Erick Morillo (March 26, 1971 – September 1, 2020) was a Colombian-American disc jockey, music producer, and record label owner. Having produced under a number of pseudonyms, including Ministers de la Funk, The Dronez, RAW, Smooth Touch, RBM, Deep Soul, Club Ultimate, and Li'l Mo Ying Yang, Morillo was best known for his international work in house music, in particular for the label Strictly Rhythm, and the 1993 hit "I Like to Move It", which he produced under the pseudonym Reel 2 Real, and which was featured in commercials, movies, and ringtones. His label Subliminal Records produced the number-one ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Music/Club Play hit "Fun" by Da Mob, and won the ''Muzik'' magazine "Remixer of the Year" award in 1999. Aly-Us is a house music group from New Jersey that was active mostly in the early 1990s. Their most famous record was “Follow Me” from 1992. Members and history Aly-Us originally started as trio composed of vocalist “Supa” aka Eddie L. Lewis, DJ Kyle “Small” Smith, and vocalist William Brian Jennings, and was active until 1996. Lewis revived the name Aly-Us on its own in the early 2010s. “Follow Me” “Follow Me”, a deep house track produced and mixed by Kyle Smith, and executive produced by DJ Pierre and George Morel, was released in 1992 on the Strictly Rhythm record label. Christophe Le Friant (; born 10 May 1969), better known by his stage name Bob Sinclar (), is a French record producer, DJ and remixer. He is the owner of the record label Yellow Productions. Musical career A native of Paris, Le Friant began DJing in the 1980s under the name Chris the French Kiss. During this time he was more influenced by hip hop and jazz music and created music projects such as The Mighty Bop and Reminiscence Quartet, the latter with an ensemble of musicians and where Le Friant used the alias Desmond K. In 1998 Le Friant adopted name of Bob Sinclar after the titular character from the 1973 film ''Le Magnifique''. He became known for popularising the "French touch" of house music with heavy use of sampled and filtered disco strings. He describes his musical style as inspired by "peace, love, and house music". Biography Born in Belgrade, SFR Yugoslavia, now Serbia, Dirty South's producing career developed in tandem with his DJing career. He got his start at the age of 13 after he relocated to Melbourne, Australia, where he currently resides. Chocolate Puma are a DJ and music production duo from Haarlem, North Holland, consisting of René ter Horst ("DJ Zki") and Gaston Steenkist ("Dobre"). Their stage names include "Zki & Dobre", "The Good Men", and "The Goodmen". Zki & Dobre have produced dance music under various group names since the early 1990s. Osunlade (; born March 13, 1969) is an American-born musician and music producer. Biography Osunlade was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He composed music for ''Sesame Street'' during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Afterward, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he worked with artists such as Patti LaBelle and Freddie Jackson. After a stint there, he moved to New York, where he founded Yoruba Records because of ''The continued need to create the music i wanted''. To date he has worked with such artists as Roy Ayers, Nkemdi, Salif Keita, Poranguí, and Cesária Évora.
