Straumøya
Straumøya is an island in the municipality of Bodø in Nordland county, Norway. The island is located on the south side of the Saltfjorden, just west of the Saltstraumen strait. The island is connected to the mainland by the Indre Sunnan Bridge and to the nearby Knaplundsøya island by the Saltstraumen Bridge, both bridges are a part of Norwegian County Road 17. In 2016, the island had 278 residents. The island has the Seinesodden Nature Reserve and the village of Seines with its associated surfing spot. Knaplundsøya or Godøya is an island in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The island lies just southeast of the town of Bodø, between the Saltfjorden and the Skjerstadfjorden. The island is connected to the mainland and to the neighboring island of Straumøya by the Norwegian County Road 17. The Saltstraumen strait and its famous maelstrom are located between Straumøya and Knaplundsøya. The island had 392 residents in 2016, mostly living on the north and west shores of the island. Saltfjorden
Saltfjorden or Saltenfjorden is a fjord in the municipalities of Bodø and Gildeskål in Nordland county, Norway. The long fjord begins around the Fleinvær islands; travels northeast past the islands of Sørarnøya, Sandhornøya, and Straumøya islands; along the southern shores of the Bodø (town), town of Bodø; and ends at the village of Løding. Saltstraumen is a small strait with one of the strongest tidal currents in the world. It is located in the municipality of Bodø in Nordland county, Norway. It is located about southeast of the town of Bodø. The narrow channel connects the outer Saltfjorden to the large Skjerstad Fjord between the islands of Straumøya and Knaplundsøya. Norwegian County Road 17
County Road 17 ( no, Fylkesvei 17), also known as the Coastal Highway ( no, Kystriksveien), is a Norwegian highway that runs from the town of Bodø in Nordland county (in the north) to the town of Steinkjer in Trøndelag county (in the south). It is long and includes six ferry crossings. The road runs along the coast of Nordland and Trøndelag counties through 28 different municipalities. This road is a much more scenic, albeit longer and more time-consuming, route than the inland European Route E6 highway.
