Stonelick State Park
Stonelick State Park is a public recreation area located off Ohio State Route 727, east of central Cincinnati, in Wayne Township, Clermont County, Ohio, United States. The state park covers of land and of water. Park activities include fishing, hunting, hiking, picnicking, swimming, boating, and camping. History The land for the park was acquired in 1948, and a dam at the west side of the lake was completed in 1950, which created the lake. Since the park's inception, there was a wastewater leak that damaged the ecology of the lake. The lake was dredged in the 1990s to restore the contamination levels of the lake to those that are safe for wildlife and swimming. Clermont County, popularly called Clermont ( ), is a county in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 208,601. Ordinanced in 1800 as part of the Virginia Military District, Clermont is Ohio's eighth oldest county, the furthest county west in Appalachian Ohio, and the eleventh oldest county of the former Northwest Territory. Clermont County is part of the Cincinnati, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county is named for the Clermont Province of France, the home of Vercingetorix, from the French "clear hills or mountain." Its county seat is Batavia. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) is the Ohio state government agency charged with ensuring "a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all." ODNR regulates the oil and gas industry, the mining industry, hunting and fishing, and dams, while maintaining natural resources such as state parks, state nature preserves, state wildlife areas, state forests, and state waterways. It was created in 1949 by the Ohio Legislature. ODNR owns and manages more than 640,000 acres of land including 75 state parks, 23 state forests, 136 state nature preserves and 150 wildlife areas. State Route 727 (SR 727) is a north–south state highway located in the southwestern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. SR 727 has its southern terminus at a T-intersection with Ohio State Route 131, SR 131 approximately west of Newtonsville, Ohio, Newtonsville.
