Stawka Większa Niż życie
''Stawka większa niż życie'' (''More Than Life at Stake'', ''Stakes Larger Than Life'' or ''Playing for High Stakes'') was a Polish black and white TV series about the adventures of a Polish secret agent in Soviet service, captain Hans Kloss (real name Stanisław Kolicki, codename J-23), who acts as a double agent in the Abwehr during Second World War in occupied Poland. Its precursor was a television play of the same name, broadcast live in 1965 by Telewizja Polska. 14 episodes of the play were made, with the two main characters, the protagonist, Abwehr Hauptmann Hans Kloss, and his key antagonist, SS-Obersturmführer Hermann Brunner, portrayed respectively by actors Stanisław Mikulski and Emil Karewicz. The popularity of the play led to the creation of the TV series; Mikulski and Karewicz returned to portray Kloss and Brunner. The series was filmed from March 1967 to October 1968. Janusz Morgenstern
Janusz "Kuba" Morgenstern (16 November 1922 – 6 September 2011) was a Polish film director and producer. Janusz Morgenstern was born in 1922 to a Jewish family in the town of Mikulińce, Poland (now Mykulyntsi, Ukraine), to Dawid Morgenstern and Estera (née Druks). He debuted as a director with the film ''Goodbye, See You Tomorrow'' (1960). His other films include ''Jowita'' (1967), ''We Have to Kill this Love'' (1972), ''W-Hour'' (1979), ''Lesser of Two Evils'' (2009). TV series directed by Morgenstern included: ''Stake Larger than Life'' (1967–1968), ''Columbuses'' (1970) and ''Polish Roads'' (1976). He died in Warsaw, Poland. Janina Borońska
Janina Borońska-Łągwa (born 16 June 1943, Łódź) is a Polish film and theatre actress, and the mother of the composer and vocalist Jacek Łągwa. Borońska debuted in theater in 1966. In 1967, she graduated from the National Film School in Łódź. She obtained a master's degree in 1969. In 1985 and 2000, she was awarded the Cross of Merit (in silver and gold, respectively). Nikolai Kuznetsov (spy)
Nikolai Ivanovich Kuznetsov (russian: Николай Иванович Кузнецов; 27 July 1911 – 9 March 1944) was a Soviet intelligence agent and partisan who operated in Nazi-occupied Ukraine (Reichskommissariat Ukraine) during World War II and who personally killed six high-ranking German officials. His file is still not fully disclosed and will be held until 2025 in the FSB archives. It was not until 1990 that Kuznetsov was officially recognized as a NKVD agent. He used several pseudonyms during his intelligence operations: e.g. Rudolf Schmidt, Nikolai Vasilevitsh Grachev (Николай Васильевич Грачёв) and Oberleutnant Paul Siebert. ''Seventeen Moments of Spring'' (russian: Семнадцать мгновений весны, Semnadtsat' mgnoveniy vesny) is a 1973 Soviet twelve-part television series, directed by Tatyana Lioznova and based on the novel of the same title by Yulian Semyonov. The series portrays the exploits of Maxim Isaev, a Soviet spy operating in Nazi Germany under the name Max Otto von Stierlitz, portrayed by Vyacheslav Tikhonov. Stierlitz is planted in 1927, well before the Nazi takeover of pre-war Germany. He then enlists in the NSDAP and rises through the ranks, becoming an important Nazi counterintelligence officer. Max Otto von Stierlitz (russian: Макс О́тто фон Шти́рлиц, ) is the lead character in a Russian book series written in the 1960s by Yulian Semyonov, and of the television adaptation '' Seventeen Moments of Spring'' (starring Vyacheslav Tikhonov) as well as in feature films (produced in the Soviet era), and in a number of sequels and prequels.
