Stan Valckx
Stanislaus "Stan" Henricus Christina Valckx (born 20 October 1963) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a central defender. Club career Valckx was born in Arcen, Limburg. After starting professionally with VVV-Venlo ( second division), he moved in 1988 to Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven, being instrumental in the conquest of three leagues and two Dutch Cups – in the 1991–92 season, he scored four goals in 28 matches as the team renewed their domestic supremacy. In 1992, Valckx, aged 28, moved abroad, to Sporting Clube de Portugal, helping the Lisbon side to the Portuguese Cup three years later, although he did not play in the final against C.S. Marítimo as in October 1994 he had already returned to his country and PSV, where he won one more league and another domestic cup before retiring in June 2000 at nearly 37 years of age, with more than 500 official appearances to his credit. Arcen
Arcen (; li, Árse) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. In 2010, it became part of the municipality of Venlo. Previously, it had been part of the municipality of Arcen en Velden and the seat of the town hall (). In 2001, Arcen had 1884 inhabitants. The 1994 FIFA World Cup was the 15th FIFA World Cup, the world championship for men's national soccer teams. UEFA Super Cup
The UEFA Super Cup is an annual super cup football match organised by UEFA and contested by the winners of the two main European club competitions; the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. The second edition of the Johan Cruyff Shield ( nl, Johan Cruijff Schaal) was held on 17 August 1997 at the Amsterdam Arena in Amsterdam. It featured the 1996–97 Eredivisie champions, PSV Eindhoven, and the 1996–97 KNVB Cup winners, Roda JC. The first edition of the Johan Cruyff Shield was held on 18 August 1996 at the Amsterdam Arena. Although this was the seventh Dutch Supercup match to be played, it was the first one held under the Johan Cruyff Shield title ( nl, Johan Cruijff Schaal), with former editions being played under the name Dutch Supercup ( nl, Nederlandse Supercup). This was also the first Supercup game to be held at the Amsterdam Arena. From this year on each Supercup game would be played there, with each KNVB Cup final being played at De Kuip in Rotterdam. Johan Cruijff Schaal
The Johan Cruyff Shield (, ) is a football trophy in the Netherlands named after Dutch footballer Johan Cruyff, also often referred to as the Dutch Super Cup. The winner is decided in one match only, played by the winner of the national football league, Eredivisie, and the winner of the national KNVB Cup. In the event of a team winning both the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup, the Johan Cruyff Shield will be contested between that team and the runner up in the national league. The trophy The trophy is a silver plate with a 60-centimetre diameter. It is similar to the trophies received by the champions of the Eredivisie.
