St. Margaretsbury Football Club is a football club based in Stanstead Abbotts, near Ware, Hertfordshire, England. They are currently members of the and play at the Recreation Ground. History The club was established in 1894 as Stanstead Abbots. They joined the East Herts League, later transferring to the Hertford & District League. In 1921 the club entered the North & East Division of the Hertfordshire Senior County League. In 1923 the league was reduced to a single division, and in 1925 it was disbanded. The club then returned to the district leagues, including the Waltham & District League, before rejoining the Hertfordshire Senior County League in 1947, becoming members of Division Two. They went on to win the Division Two title in 1948–49, earning promotion to Division One. Stanstead Abbots remained in Division One until 1955, when they were placed in Division One B for a transitional season. Stanstead Abbotts (alternatively Stanstead Abbots) is a village and civil parish in the district of East Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire, England; it lies on the county boundary with Essex. At the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 1,983. The village is situated approximately south-southeast of Ware, southeast of Hertford, north-northeast of Hoddesdon and west of Harlow. The village is separated from the village of Stanstead St Margarets by the River Lea. History Name and origins The village's name was recorded as "Stanstede" at the time of the Domesday Survey in the late eleventh century. The 2021–22 Essex Senior Football League season is the 51st in the history of the Essex Senior Football League, a football competition in England. The proposed constitution for this season was published on 22 May 2021, based on allocations for Steps 5 and 6 announced by the FA five days earlier, and it was subject to appeal. The constitution was ratified at the league's annual general meeting (AGM) on 24 June. Stafford () is a market town and the county town of Staffordshire, in the West Midlands region of England. It lies about north of Wolverhampton, south of Stoke-on-Trent and northwest of Birmingham. The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Since 2015, it has been known as The Emirates FA Cup after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Women's FA Cup. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Stanstead St Margarets
Stanstead St Margarets, often abbreviated to just St Margarets, is a village and civil parish in the district of East Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire, England. It is located halfway between the towns of Hoddesdon and Ware. The village is separated from the village of Stanstead Abbotts by the River Lea, and had a population of 1,318 at the census of 2001, increasing to 1,652 at the 2011 Census. Geography The Greenwich Meridian (longitude 0°) passes through the village with its exact position marked by Meridian obelisks which were erected in 1984 to commemorate the centenary of the adoption of the prime meridian line. The current line is one of many that have existed, however the Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system uses a prime meridian that is about 100 metres east of the Greenwich Meridian at Stanstead Abbotts. Great Amwell
Great Amwell is a village and civil parish in the East Hertfordshire district, in the county of Hertfordshire, England. It is southeast of Ware and about north of London. History On a hill above the church there are some traces of an Iron Age hill fort, but more substantial remains of the earthworks were destroyed by landscaping of the Old Vicarage gardens in about 1840. To the west, on the road to Hertford, is a large tumulus at Barrowfield. In the Domesday Book of 1086 Great Amwell and neighbouring Little Amwell were a single parish recorded as "Emmewell".
