Springfield Armory, Inc., is an American commercial firearms manufacturer and importer based in Geneseo, Illinois. Founded in 1974 by Bob Reese and family, the company produces rifles such as the M1A and imports handguns such as the XD series and Hellcat. The company is unrelated to the like-named former manufacturer of US military firearms in Massachusetts, Springfield Armory. Formation Elmer C. Ballance began using the name "Springfield Armory" through his company (LH Manufacturing) dedicated to the first civilian production of the M14 rifle, calling it the M1A. Ballance began in San Antonio, Texas, and soon after moved to Devine, Texas, where the company gained momentum and popularity. In 1974, Ballance sold the company to the Reese family, who had a well-established production shop in Illinois and experience base. AR-15 Style Rifle
An AR-15-style rifle is any lightweight semi-automatic rifle based on the Colt AR-15 design. The original ArmaLite AR-15 is a scaled-down derivative of Eugene Stoner's ArmaLite AR-10 design. The then Fairchild Engine and Airplane Corporation division ArmaLite sold the patent and trademarks to Colt's Manufacturing Company in 1959. After most of Colt's patents for the Colt AR-15 expired in 1977, many firearm manufacturers began to produce copies of the Colt AR-15 under various names. While the patents are expired, Colt retained the trademark of the AR-15 and is the sole manufacturer able to label their firearms as ''AR-15''. Springfield Armory EMP
The Springfield Armory EMP is a semi-automatic pistol based on the classic M1911 design and manufactured by Springfield Armory, Inc. Whereas the M1911 uses the .45 ACP cartridge, the EMP uses smaller 9×19mm Parabellum or .40 S&W cartridges. It has been reengineered to make it smaller and lighter than its parent firearm, and is marketed as a "short-action 1911". EMP stands for "Enhanced Micro Pistol". It is similar to the Colt Defender and Para-Ordnance Slim Hawg. Design Seventeen parts of the M1911 were reduced in size for the design of the EMP. The slide and frame were both shortened, necessitating changes to the extractor, firing pin, firing pin spring, and trigger bow, as well as the plunger tube. The Springfield Armory 911 is a concealed carry semi-automatic pistol manufactured by Springfield Armory, Inc. A smaller version of a single-action hammer-fired M1911 pistol, it was first introduced in 2018 chambered in .380 ACP; the 9mm version was announced a year later. The Springfield Armory M6 Scout is a .22 Hornet over .410 bore combination gun that is virtually identical to the original M6 Aircrew Survival Weapon. The BM 59 is an automatic battle rifle developed in Italy in 1959. It is based on the M1 Garand rifle, chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO, modified to use a detachable magazine, and capable of selective fire.
