The South Sydney District Junior Rugby Football League is an affiliation of junior clubs in the Southern Sydney, South Sydney area. History Turf wars When the South Sydney Rabbitohs first entered the NSWRL competition as South Sydney in 1908, Souths would become neighbours to fellow city counterpart, the Eastern Suburbs Roosters. Anzac Parade, Sydney, Anzac Parade separated the territories for both inner-Sydney clubs when the boundaries were first established the previous year. Randwick is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The Maroubra Lions is a community rugby league football club located in Maroubra, in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Australia. It is part of Souths Juniors and competes in the mini, mod and A-Grade competitions. The club's colors are like the South Sydney Rabbitohs but without the black and white stripes. Erskineville Oval is a sporting venue in Erskineville, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Originally developed and opened in 1885 as Macdonaldtown Park, it was later renamed in 1892 to its current form with the municipality name change of the local government body. Kenneth Richard "Arko" Arthurson AM (born 1 October 1929) is an Australian rugby league football identity. Affectionately known as "The Godfather of Manly", he played, coached and was later an administrator at the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles club in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership. Later he ran the NSWRL, and then the Australian Rugby League during the 1990s' Super League war, resigning in 1997 as part of the peace process for creating the unified National Rugby League. Peter "Bullfrog" Moore
Peter Sydney "Bullfrog" Moore OAM (1932 – 5 July 2000) was an Australian rugby league administrator, particularly associated with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, where he was Chief Executive from 1969 to 1995, serving a record 26 years at the helm. The Canterbury club won four grand finals during his time as its CEO, and he was largely considered responsible for fostering the proud "family" culture for which the club became renowned. Career Moore was a local newsagency owner in the Sydney suburb of Belmore before arriving at Canterbury-Bankstown in 1969. Keith Barnes
William Keith Barnes AM (born 30 October 1934), also known by the nickname of "Golden Boots", is a Welsh-born Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s, and coached in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He was a for the Australian national team and for the Balmain Tigers. He played in 14 Tests between 1959 and 1966, as national captain on 12 occasions. He was known as "Golden Boots" due to his exceptional goal-kicking ability. After his playing days he became a referee and later co-commentated on the Amco Cup on Network Ten with Ray Warren in the 1970s. The Newtown Jets are an Australian rugby league football club based in Newtown, a suburb of Sydney's inner west. They currently compete in the NSW Cup competition, having left the top grade after the 1983 NSWRFL season.
