Stars In Their Eyes
''Stars in Their Eyes'' is a British television talent series, based on Joop van den Ende's Dutch format ''Soundmixshow''. It featured a singing contest in which members of the public impersonate showbiz stars. The show premiered on 21 July 1990 and initially ran until 23 December 2006. It was produced by Granada for ITV and originally presented by Leslie Crowther. Matthew Kelly took over in May 1993, before he was replaced by Cat Deeley in April 2004. An Elvis Presley special hosted by Russ Abbot aired in January 1993, as well as 2003 specials hosted by Davina McCall. A number of celebrity specials and a children's spin-off series were also aired during the original run. Henny Huisman
Hendrikus Josephus Huisman (born 18 June 1951) is a Dutch television presenter and musician. Biography Huisman had a catholic upbringing. Originally trained as a window dresser, he was a drummer, DJ and event host before he enrolled in the world of television. Huisman began his music career in 1961 as a 10-year-old member of guitar-trio The Bright Stars alongside Margriet Eshuijs. After a spell with teenage-band The Marileens he moved on to bigger things. Huisman co-founded Lucifer in which he played drums while Eshuijs performed lead vocals; he made his television-debut on March 18, 1975, appearing on '' Van Oekel's Discohoek'' (a parody of chart-show ''TopPop''). Huisman left Lucifer after the success of ''House for sale'' and was replaced with Jan Pijnenburg, future drummer of pop/reggae-band Doe Maar. Edsilia Rombley
Edsilia Francisca Rombley (born 13 February 1978) is a Dutch singer and television presenter. She began her career in 1995, as a member of the Dutch girl group Dignity. Rombley began her solo career in 1996, after winning the Dutch talent show ''Soundmixshow'', later winning the ''European Soundmix Show'' as well the following year. In 1998, Rombley won '' Nationaal Songfestival 1998'' and represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 with the song "Hemel en aarde", placing fourth. Marco Borsato
Marco Roberto Borsato (; born 21 December 1966) is a Dutch singer. Born in Alkmaar, North Holland, he started performing in Italian before switching to Dutch in 1994. He has consistently been one of the most successful and biggest grossing artists in the Netherlands and Belgium for the past thirty years. Borsato achieved 15 number-one singles in the Netherlands, the second-most all time behind The Beatles' 16. Petra Berger, born ''Petronella Burger'' (Amstelveen, 23 October 1965), is a Dutch classical crossover singer, composer, and musical actress. Biography Petra Berger was born into a musical family, but did not pursue a musical career until later on in her life. Berger earned her secondary school diploma in 1982 and landed a job at a computer firm job. European Soundmix Show
The ''European Soundmix Show'' was an imitation talent competition held yearly from 1996 to 1999, with two special shows in 2001 and 2002. The show was an international version of Joop van den Ende's "Henny Huisman Soundmixshow", which was aired on Dutch television the first time in 1985. Various European countries competed with one participant each imitating a famous artist, and most often, the participant was the winner of the national competition the same or the previous year. Some participants were, however, chosen internally by the national television company, without any pre-selection. The winner was chosen by a jury vote. Glenda Hulita Elisabeth Batta (born 19 June 1978), known professionally as Glennis Grace, is a Dutch singer.
