''Song of Love'' is a 1929 American pre-Code musical film directed by Erle C. Kenton and starring Belle Baker and Ralph Graves. It was released by Columbia Pictures on November 13, 1929. The film was the film debut of Belle Baker. The film contained songs but was also issued in a silent version. Actress Eve Arden made her film debut in the film, appearing under her real name, Eunice Quedens. Premise The story of a show business family called the Gibsons. Ma Gibson (Baker) realizes their lifestyle is affecting their child and breaks up the act. Kane Richmond (born Frederick William Bowditch, December 23, 1906 – March 22, 1973) was an American film actor of the 1930s and 1940s, mostly appearing in cliffhangers and serials. He is best known today for his portrayal of the character Lamont Cranston in ''The Shadow'' films in addition to his leading role in the successful serials '' Spy Smasher'' and '' Brick Bradford''. Early years Richmond was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Pearlie Watkins Bowditch and Mary Elizabeth (Waters) Bowditch. He had a sister, Marie, and a brother, Russell. He attended St. Thomas College and the University of Minnesota, playing football at both schools. He moved to Hollywood in the late 1920s to pursue a career in acting. Eddie Kane
Eddie Kane (August 12, 1889 – April 30, 1969) was an American actor who appeared in over 250 productions from 1928 to 1959. Biography Kane was born in St. Louis, Missouri. His early career was in vaudeville as a member of the two-man team of Kane & Herman. Some of his more famous films include ''The Public Enemy'' (1931), '' The Mummy'' (1932), ''Mr. Deeds Goes to Town'' (1936), '' Mr. Smith Goes to Washington'' (1939), ''Meet John Doe'' (1941), ''Yankee Doodle Dandy'' (1942), ''It's a Wonderful Life'' (1946), and ''The Ten Commandments'' (1956). Kane appeared in three Academy Award for Best Picture winners: ''The Broadway Melody'' (1929), ''It Happened One Night'' (1934) and '' You Can't Take It with You'' (1938). William Irving (actor)
William Irving (17 May 1893 – 25 December 1943) was a German-born American film actor. Biography The burly character actor appeared in more than 220 films between 1916 and 1941, often as a "comic heavy" in the comedies of Our Gang or The Three Stooges. Irving also appeared as a cowardly German army cook in '' All Quiet on the Western Front'' (1930). He played mostly supporting roles in the silent era, but after the introduction of sound films his appearances got noticeably smaller and he was often uncredited. On Christmas Day, 1943, Irving was crossing the street at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles, California, when he was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver.
