Sokil Kiev
Hockey Club Sokil Kyiv ( uk, ХК Сокіл Київ; en, Falcon Hockey Club), commonly known as Sokil Kyiv or HC Sokil, is a Ukrainian Professional Hockey League team based in Kyiv. While their home arena is located in the city, the team also plays out of Brovary, still within the Kyiv region. They are a founding club of the Professional Hockey League of Ukraine, and have formerly competed in the national leagues of Belarus, Russia, and the Soviet Union. Until 2014 Sokil remained the oldest and most accomplished team in Ukrainian hockey, winning 12 of the 19 Ukrainian Hockey Championships held since 1992. The club's senior team was inactive from 2014 to 2020. The club was founded in 1963 as part of the Dynamo sports society, and adopted its current moniker in 1973. Dmytro Anatoliiovych "Dmitri" Khristich ( uk, Дмитро́ Анатолійович Хри́стич, russian: Дмитрий Анатольевич Хри́стич; born July 23, 1969) is a Ukrainian former professional ice hockey player. Khristich played 811 games in the NHL in his career, for the Washington Capitals, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He was most recently the Head coach of EIHL side the Edinburgh Capitals, joining in June 2017 but departing in December of the same year. In Feb 2022 it's been reported that Dmitri took up arms to defend Ukraine. Achievements Khristich appeared in the 1997 and 1999 NHL All-Star Games. Dynamo (sports Society)
Dynamo, also Dinamo, (; , Belarusian: Дынама, ka, დინამო) was a sports and fitness society created in 1923 in the Soviet Union. The society was an association of multi-sport clubs whose members were drawn from the NKVD and, after World War II, the MVD and the KGB. With the Soviet occupation of Eastern Europe after World War II, similar Dynamo societies were established throughout the Eastern Bloc, such as SV Dynamo (East Germany). Since 2016, Vladimir Strzhalkovskiy is the Chairman of the Dynamo Society. The Hockey Club SKA (russian: Спортивный клуб СКА), often referred to as SKA Saint Petersburg and literally as the Sports Club of the Army, is a Russian professional ice hockey club based in Saint Petersburg. They are members of the Bobrov Division in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Ska (; ) is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. It combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. Ska is characterized by a walking bass line accented with rhythms on the off beat. Before the 1940s the game of ice hockey was not cultivated in Russia, instead the more popular form of hockey was bandy.
